Because he only travelled 2 miles a Taxi would be cheaper...
This looks to be a deliberate worst case scenario... drive most of the journey, only use the tube for a very short part, use the most expensive form of payment
Now try Watford (one side of London) to Heathrow (other side of London) cost : £3.70 - £6.40 - depending on payment method and time of travel - try beating that?
Virgin Media customers will get it free - they are already paying Virgin Media Selected others will get it free they are already paying a carrier, who are paying Virgin Media Everyone else will have to pay on a Pay As You Go basis...
Money rolling in regardless of who uses it , seems like a good money spinner for Virgin to me?
..3G is much slower than WiFi...and costs more.... Are you thinking of 4G?
More than 55% of the London Underground is above ground and gets a good signal, and yes annoying people do yammer on constantly on the phone...The Tube is more than the central portion of deep lines...and services more than Central London...I suspect Wifi will not be rolled out to the outlying stations
Look at the languages that have "succeeded" they all have the same things in common, availability and support
Perl, C, VB, Java, PHP, C++, C#... all were/are highly available, and well supported, they often were not the best or even a good choice otherwise
Lisp is very powerful, but is not the language of choice for actually doing anything useful because it is not highly available and well supported on any system
On Windows C, C++, VB and C# are the languages of choice because they are well supported by Microsoft... no other reason
My experience is that both Exchange and Outlook are both terrible, badly written and hard to maintain..... but work just that bit better than the alternatives, and users are familiar with it and it does everything they need (which seems to be different for each user...)
No it means that 100 million people have been taught by parents and peers that one of the doctrines of their faith is that Evolution is false
Nothing can be done to persuade them otherwise, the do not know or care what evolution is or what evidence there is for or against it they just know that is and must be false because that's what they are repeatedly told by people they trust...
...and they can still charge for a CD of Goldberg Variations and charge for it's use in a movie soundtrack... Just not this one
There is also copyright on a performance, the score might be opensource and free to use but any particular performance is still copyright until someone declares otherwise...
TomTom - all the mapping they can cram into the device...so limited detail/coverage
Google/Bing Maps - All the mapping they can get hold of... so much much more comprehensive - but too big for a device - you need an internet connection to use
OpenStreetMap - all the mapping people could be bothered to contribute - might be more might be less than the above depends where you are and is downloadable to a device so the advantages of both...
Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, QuickBooks, MS Office - all run on Mac OSX... and so could be ported to Linux relatively easily if the manufactures decided there was a market...
this is purely another case of they don't run on Linux because there is not a market, and there is not a market because they don't run on Linux....It is a commercial decision not a technical one
In the UK we have the Civil Service... I assume the USA has an equivalent body of people who make up the people who actually draft and implement government policy and remain (mostly) the same people regardless of who is in power at the moment... did it never occur to you that these people are the problem they are a huge force of inertia on government policy and the reason that nothing every really changes between administrations....
Do you think anyone capable of getting themselves selected as the republican or democrat candidate and so being even likely to be president would not have done exactly the same....?
If you don't you are sadly deluded, you have a two party system where the two parties by necessity are very similar, and on many policies are exactly the same
...If you have no cooling and use fan for airflow, with an outside temperature of 100F the inside temperature would be 100F... Fans don't cool they just move air around (and put out heat a little)
If this is what the BSA are doing they they have lost already - either fix the Aircon.. or give up...
Arthritis, Cancer, and even HIV the research that has been done to find cures is underfunded, but the only reason the Pharma companies have invested money in finding something that helps because people are willing to pay, this will not change because of changes to patents, but perhaps the balance of research effort and money will change in favour of a cure?
Now look at diseases that only people who cannot afford treatment get and you will find that little of no research is done...
Flick knives are banned in the UK for the same reason that flavoured cigarettes were banned in the USA, the very small number legitimate users had alternatives that were almost as good and the illegitimate uses far outweighed the legitimate, and were very harmful
BItTorrent is a very efficient way of transporting large files, the alternatives are only as good as the server's bandwidth, and the legitimate users use it for this very reason (as do the Pirates), there are alternatives but they are not as good...
Hollywood - World centre of the film industry - no, more movies are made in Bollywood than Hollywood, and the largest Film producer in the World is Nigeria...
Silicon Valley is likewise overhyped, more innovation is done outside than in...
They do however make more money than the same industries outside the USA, simply because of IP laws and IP lawyers...
I once engineered my answers so I could remember them ...

If someone has been able to steal the hashed passwords, then how long it takes to decrypt them is academic ...
They have access to your server already, customers passwords are the least of your worries ...

Cloud : A meaningless term that encompasses everything from network storage up to a fully virtualised system
By most of the industry definitions a desktop PC is a local single node cloud ...!
Put your data in the cloud, where the company hosting it can ransom it back to you
Run your business from the cloud, so if your internet connection goes down you have no business ....
My experience is that both Exchange and Outlook are both terrible, badly written and hard to maintain..... but work just that bit better than the alternatives, and users are familiar with it and it does everything they need (which seems to be different for each user...)

OK I just checked out my local area on OSM - The Local supermarket car park is mapped out with it's internal one way system!
But 10+ year old industrial estate I work in, is missing completely .....(It's on Google Maps and even on StreetView)
Having said that the industrial estate is also missing off most SatNav's as well ...

4 systems in parallel
All four get an inaccurate answer, the average is inaccurate, no two have the same answer, do you just re-run forever?

No they can tell you to go and get a court order, which you won't get ... a trade secret is a trade secret
However the copyright stops you analysing the product and reverse engineering the recipe and publishing it
Disney can keep Mickey as a Trademark indefinitely now ..they are just stopping Mickey mouse cartoons going into public domain

If you didn't publish them then no-one has them to do anything with except you ...

They are in the business of 'inventing' very expensive drugs, because the current patent system encourages this ...
Without a patent they would be trying to invent cheap large volume drugs instead ?
