Add living here for 11 year on a temporary green card that was supposed to have been turned permanent 3 years ago but they magically keep losing the file and every 6 months I have to drive 10 hours to get an extension and when I re-enter the U.S. after visiting my family in Italy I get interrogated for an hour and treated as if I was coming straight from Afghanistan with Bin Laden's passport. Actually I agree with the first statement. The terrorists have won for the simple fact that the objective of a terrorist is to change a people way of life. How many liberties have we given up already in the name of protection and security? I travel a lot and I dread the moment I step into an airport inside the US when it used to be something fun. As a photographer myself, I know of many people who have been mistreated or even arrested for taking photos of public buildings. The only thing here that is arguable is not if the terrorists have won, but who the real terrorists really are. Are they a bunch of people from a far-away country or our own governments who are promoting fear in the name of protection so that they can keep a tighter leash on the population (therefore changing our way of life)? I vote for the latter. I'm done being afraid of Bin Laden, I'm more afraid of the guys in the White House.

Actually it can't, but it's doing it with loans borrowed from China. This White House has decided that it's better to run the country down in a hole rather than admit that it was a poor choice to invade Iraq even if it's costing billions of dollars that we don't have. There was a very interesting article on Scientic American not to long ago, where a famous psychiatrist explained the dynamics of thought, related to Iraq, of not letting go of a situation even when the result is a huge loss, he attributed that to a person's brain always finding an excuse to justify their actions.

As for the airline pilot example, it doesn't hold water. Mitchell was an astronaut who worked for NASA and had insight into certain classified activities (and pretty much every astronaut back then was an ex or an active military pilot. Mitchell was a US Navy pilot, also a fighter trainer, with a degree in astronautical engineering. Definitely not an idiot), airline pilots are most definitely not allowed any insight into government classified activities.

My father's car goes over 50MPG on the highways... how's the US resembling Europe exactly? Unless by "beginning" you meant the real "beginning" of the car industry... like 1900 ;-) What's more interesting is that european car companies and oil companies divisions are more concerned about environment and smart us of resources than their American counterpart. I know this guy, the director of movie/documentary "Fields of Fuel" (coming out in August in theaters nationwide) who could get a same-day appointment with the CEO of Ford in Europe with just a phone call, but in the US after 77 phone calls he could not go through (regardless of having been promised he would get an interview). The CEO of Exxon (Esso) Europe also claimed that Environment and alternative fuels was their main priority and showed him what they were doing to reduce dependence; the US based officials... you guessed it, no interview. This film got awesome public critique at its premiere at the Jackson Hole Film Festival.

Hi. I appreciate your serious questions. On ebay there are many people (called "deadbit buyers") that just post on things and then don't pay. Some of these people have a habit of doing it because they're either stupid or feel like they have no obbligation to the auction they're bidding on. By leaving them a negative feedback you are warning other sellers that these people cannot be trusted. Ebay does not do anything to protect you, as seller, they will ask you to way 10 days just to file a non-paying complaint before you can get your insertion fees back. Meanwhile you still have your item, wasted time and by the time you reposted it its value might have decreased. Another example is that the buyer will pay, then will receive the item and exchange it with one they already had and claim that yours was broken. It happens a lot, has happened to me as well, unfortunately the idiot tried that with an unbreakable object (made of rubber). There are a lot of cases when a seller needs to leave a negative feedback for a buyer, this is ebay, not Amazon we are talking about. Amazon takes care of its sellers and buyers, ebay does not, they only take care of their money. If you wish to learn more go to ebay and read the community threads.

Their new policies, higher prices and impossibility for sellers to leave any negative or neutral feedback has driven many people away. Just read the ebay forums, the Front Porch, and you will see hundreds of angry people. What's even worse, go to Seller Central forum and browse the last pages... ebay had moved to the back of the list some important threads where people were complaining about the new policies. Last Feb. when sellers called for a boycott and stopped selling for a determined amount of time ebay posted hundreds of thousands of fake listings to show that their numbers were not down (it's all documented in the forums). Nowadays, me and many other ex ebayers moved to iOffer.com and it's like heaven compared to ebay. No listing fees, lower final value fees, proper feedback (and you can transfer your rating from ebay), free pics and free store. As of this week there are over 4 million listings on iOffer.com
