GPL protects the freedom of the code, not the freedom of the developer. Big difference! If you want developer freedom, use the BSD license or some such. Different tools for different problems:)
Anyone who pays attention to the discussions on./ would know there is division of attitudes toward GPLv3. I'm fairly confident it will gain more support, what with the FSF behind it, and as new projects come out.
By the way, anyone have more information about just who exactly the Evans Data Corporation is, and whether they are a respectable source of research? (I noticed this is a press release and not an independent article...)
Also, they can already collect some of (if not a lot of) your browsing history by checking the IP making requests to Google Adwords, if I'm not mistaken.
It is too bad, in some ways, that it didn't go to court. Personally, I will sleep much more soundly when there is a precedent set which upholds the GPL as legally valid.
The particles that make up our being only "exist" in this dimension, to put it loosely. Ourselves in the other dimensions experience those dimensions, if indeed there are multiple dimensions.
Please, please, please stop chapter by chapter summarizing of books in reviews. A summary of the book and notable points is much better. The reader doesn't care what is in the *chapters* until they have decided to read the *book!* Please. Everyone. Stop doing this. It's pedantic.
Incidentally, I didn't realize my copy was three editions behind... Sophomore year seems so long ago.
I know what you mean. They have so much luck! Like, you'd think sometime they'd make a new processor and find out it was only as good as the last one. If only my cooking turned out that way...
I really don't see any point in implementing a new C compiler under the BSD lisence. There's no reason to duplicate effort: it's not like the compiled binaries would be under the GPL. And any GPL libraries you link to, you wouldn't need to distribute (thus avoiding the GPL). So, really, there's no point in duplicating effort on a BSD lisenced compiler. Correct me if I'm wrong.
See... I don't think most children or people would really be smart enough. Or at least it would take them a good while to get around whatever blockade. It would be educational for the child, but learning to hack is probably not one of the mother's goals for her child!
The thing is, a lot of us don't want to "become like them." It pisses me off to hear about people throwing around money like this; I wouldn't have the damn plane if I was that rich, let alone a private air strip coaxed out of government officials. (I wonder who they had to puff to make that deal.)
And seriously. Enough with the "everyone can make it if they try" stuff. It's gotten old, and you should know it isn't true.
Confidence is sexy
Definitely agree with that. The single best piece of advice in dating. Remember: it's better to be wrong than to do nothing.
Why get so worked up about anthropomorphic metaphors used glibly in casual correspondence?
I am wondering who they are, as well. If it helps, they also did this study about PHP.
Ooh, and here's one where they say Linux is gaining ground over Windows in certain areas...

Yes, there is no precedent if the judge does not rule on the case.

Web 4.0 is even better!
It did seem a little early to drop the G4 entirely...

I would love to see some RIAA high priests locked up (even for 90 days). Big media has truly done more to hurt us than any pirates.
the US is the leading cause of mass death today.
Please explain. Or do you mean the UN?

Watch out for the iAnal...
/. are sick. I always see them brandishing the devices name about as if ass play was commonplace...
People on
Do they run Linux?

I can't seem to Google one up (maybe you could look for a used one ;)
There is a similar product available called the OhMiBod, if the brand isn't important...
I think the poster was referring to the iGasm.

Same could be said about us USians.
Most people have no idea that right exists.
I certainly didn't. Here's a DIY.

Sorry, "this one" qualifies as a pronoun, which is a noun...
