They could be referring to all races of life on Earth, too. But it wasn't THAT obvious that they were aliens, nor was it obvious that they weren't. There are many reasons to support both viewpoints, and it would be best to ask Spielberg himself what they were, than to assume or bicker over what they were.
It looked like the Editor was done on Windows...I don't think you can edit levels on even the Palms...or maybe I just read it wrong, but it appeared you couldn't.

I mean, come on, everyone here in the states has been getting lawsuits for having it on their servers; its no surprise that the guy who actually CREATED DeCSS would be investigated. He'll probably be arrested, as well, and most likely get the same thing everyone else is getting, if not more. But seriously folks, think about this: I know a lot of you have 4.7 GB to spare, but how many people really carry around a DVD-R? And they think we're gonna be making copies of our DVD's up the wazoo? Right.....
Its very simple. Napster, when it starts up, takes over port 6969. Most of the schools (at least, my school) know this is the port (because the people who use Napster are also the ones who are banning it). So if its using Port 6969, simply change it to 21, 8000, 89....something other than 6969, then they won't recognize its there. This may only work in my situation, because the admin, well, they're not especially bright, but it might work for the rest of you who have already been banned for using it.
Well now, you can't simply say that its unthinkable. There are a couple of buzzwords will put in here: Tactics and Urban Warfare.
Now, realistically, I don't think China's gonna go to war with the US anytime soon. Why? Yes, they're a communist state, but the relations between their state and ours is fairly stable. I'm not completely up on my current events, but I'd say I'm pretty close to the "right" on that.
Ok, getting into tactics and urban warfare.. Its not inconceivable that they would attack us. The movie "Red Dawn" was a great example of how they could invade the US...by going through Communist Cuba. It'd be difficult to keep it undercover until the last moment, and then, keeping the transportation of troops up over the largest ocean on the planet would not be easy.
If China was going to go to war, it'd be with some state closer to them (India or Tibet). But the days of Hitler and geographical expansion are pretty much over. We have very few "powerful" states that are part of the "Frustration/Agression Theory" (in which the people of the state are dissatisfied and would gladly go to war), nor are any of the states "dissatisfied." After WWII, Germany should've been the most dissatisfied. Do you see Germany ready to go to war today? No, their state is strong.
So really, I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just saying that if you go out and tell us that there is no way the Chinese will attack, I believe that the debate would go on for a long time.
There are many benefits to Napster, compared to the searches on websites (or IRC)
*Ease of use *No ratios *Fast Access (if you're lucky, and its late) *No dead links (though folks will log off in the middle of a download)
Whatever reason makes you think search engines better, I'd sure like to hear it. I used them before, and quite frankly, I found their lack of reliability.....disturbing.
