Thats really not an accurate statement. Apple could lower its prices at any time, its not like theyre running on thin margins.

I would consider buying a Mac if its prices were about 1/2 what they are, and my understanding is that that would still generate a profit for them.

You really need to read up on the rate-limiting effects of sucrase in the small intestine and how that affects the liver's fructose-processing capabilities and what happens when the liver gets fructose faster than it can handle.

And you really need to read up on how sucrose is what we call a disaccharide composed of equal parts glucose and fructose; and that "HFCS" refers to two different mixtures of fructose and glucose, one a 55-42 mix and the other a 42-53 mix (depending on whether its a food or a beverage).

Youll note that one of those mixes actually gives your body LESS fructose, so by your argument HFCS-42 should be healthier than sucrose.

people who want to believe that sugar itself isn't deadly

If only eating healthy were that easy. Alas, there is no magic bullet or boogieman that can explain the whole of what it means to be healthy-- though, indeed, if you cut your sugar, and HFCS, and fruit sugar (fructose) intake, you will very likely be better off. Start by realizing that the problem with soda isnt kind of sugar, its that each coke has 1/10th of a pound of "sugars".

Fixing 8 wont involve patching bugs (as with Vista), it will involve ripping out the most visible feature (the metro crap) on desktop machines.

News to me. You have a source, or are you just spouting?

I guess being a shill for Microsoft doesn't give you a whole lot of time to read the news.

Ok, not having used IE since 2004 and working with a combination of BSD, Linux, and MS makes me a shill for MS. Gotcha.

Lets keep in mind that the parent i was responding to was talking about everyday life, not what wacky restrictions you have to deal with as a healthcare provider. And Im saying that IE is not a necessity for 95% of people. See, as an IT guy, I have the chance to interact with a lot of customers, and suggest Chrome / Firefox (and have for ~8 years now), and know when it does and doesnt work. In most cases, it just works.

I would suggest you reevaluate your black-and-white view of the tech world. Not all people who use MS products are pro-MS fanbois, and not all "requires IE" instances are grand conspiracies.

My general point was that in discussions on Israel it seems like people take one side and dont want to admit that their side has done a lot to cause the problem. They will defend Israel, and ignore the questionable tactic of collective punishment or the ways in which Israel seems to try to provoke attacks. Or they will defend Palestine on the idea that we can ignore that Israel has been around for 70 years now, and we cant just pretend that the people there dont belong; and that any past injustices warrant any action whatsoever against civilian populatons; and that Israel somehow shouldnt be concerned over the repeated calls for its discussion.

If you cant recognize the flaws of your own "side" in a discussion, theres a strong chance you have the blinders on and are living in an echo chamber.

Most of the govt healthcare websites (Medicare, Medicaid, etc) for fee for service physicians will only work with Windows and IE. No other operating system or browser is supported.

Where are you getting your info, I tried googling this and found zero to support that.

Most US insurance carriers web portals such as Navinet [navimedix.com] require IE and ActiveX.

Who is Navinet? Ive had Blue Cross, Kaiser, and United Healthcare. Never had to use IE. I wouldnt call "one small provider" most.

Instead MicroShaft has thrown alot of money in the healthcare industry in order to DRM lock it into it's own proprietary junk.

Baloney. Ive dealt with 4 of the top 10 providers in the US and have never dealt with this. This isnt a grand conspiracy. Im sure Microsoft lobbied for ActiveX at one point, but that ship sailed a long time ago and this IE only thing is a rarity these days.
