    sounds like a good idea...except that almost every single election worker is 80 years old. I don't think that they would enjoy working at a root prompt.

    also, elections are run by counties and states. not the federal govt. hence, it'll be next to impossible to centralize anything election related.

    harry browne believes we should all be responsible for ourselves. most people, unfortunatly, are not responsible enough to either: A)ensure that your skills are high enough and your work ethic great enough to avoid extended job loss or b)save enough money to get through the times when you can't find a new job.

    so hey, why not just be lazy, get fired, and eat government cheese until the next job rolls around? welcome to todays' america.

    i love socialists. if you're so god damn concerned about bums in ghettos, then why do you live in such a nice house? why aren't you giving all of your extra wealth to charity (that is, if your government hasn't taken it all already)? the minute you drive a car instead of taking the bus or live in a house instead of something one step above poverty, you lose all cred.

    ummm...if you pay 48% of your "good money" in income taxes, then your "lifelong medical care" and "schooling" are FAR from free.

    hell, why not just give you're government 100% of your salary and get "free" bread and water, too?

    ironically, the same people you are accusing of teaching a fear of socialism are unionized trolls.

    what you should remember, is that the children are forced to see their socialist teachers go on strike every 4 years. maybe that is where some people develop their hatred of socialists?

    because this guy wants to raise taxes. his answer to the questions should anwer your question. he says that he wants to raise taxes on the wealthy and raise estate taxes to even more absurd levels.

    so, why is that bad? put some money in your pocket and you'll know.

    please. before wasting your vote on crooks, do some research and vote for the third party ideology of your choice. it'll make a difference someday.

    some (many) of you are communists and, barring the lack of a communist candidate, will vote for nader.

    others are pro-freedom and will vote for the libertarian candidate.

    at the end of the day, those on slashdot are the ones that i would think are least likely to vote for the generic republican or democrat candidates. there are many other candidates that represent YOUR beliefs.

    actually, all the government can do is impose artificial trade barriers. and that would hike the price up further. so when microsoft moves 100 miles north and is delivering a billion us$ of tax dollars into the canadian coffers, and companies have to pay twice as much for their dumb windows, we know to blame the government. the government should leave people the fsck alone.

    When Jobs stole the idea of a User Friendly GUI from PARC Apple paid $200,000 in stock options to Xerox for IP rights to the GUI. ---soooo, apple is allowed to buy budding technologies for personal use, but microsoft is a monopolist thief?
