In tech we usually don't track sick time or WFH when we are dealing with life. PTO is logged only when we disappear for a week or two. Three weeks of PTO is not enough for me even in that situation. I have five weeks...I usually roll over a week.
This happens a lot. I knew a sysadmin who had a deal with his wife: the first one home makes dinner. He never made it home in time. The last thing we needed was for him to come to work...much less hang out all fucking evening.
Hold on. Slaves had paid rent, food, and medical care. Wal-Mart slaves are not even close. Rent? Nope. Food? Nope. Medical care? LOL! Perhaps they are saving it all for retirement? Nope. Millions of people work all week and can barely get by. Just a fact.
Been FB free for probably six months now. Feels good. Wife deleted it from her phone a while back and has felt the positive difference as well. Lead by example.
To quote Trump....."wrong." CA didnt mug anyone. They merely demonstrated the effectiveness of fb data governance by doing what they had to do to comply. Nothing.
These types of agreements are used in every industry. I would never delete data. It is far to valuable. Any analyst who comes upon valuable data keeps a copy for themselves. Data security and governance is very weak to non-exsistent in every company.
Which set of ethics are you referring to? Assuming everyone shares the same ethics guarantees you will be left holding the bill while those who are masters of the universe define thier own ethics and convince you to hand them your shit. Grow up.
....AND facebook made the mistake of taking a personal stance on one side of thw issue. If they were adults capable of just being secular lovers of freedom they would be much less susceptible to pop-group think and persecution. They painted themselves in a corner. Part of growing into adulthood I guess. Tone at the top is weak.
...and before Obama care they could pick up good number of credit hours to make extra money in a lot of places. Now the college has to restrict them to a certain credit hour load that is used in a formula to calculate the number of hours worked. They have to keep it under 29 hours....as calculated. If a credit hour is said to be five working hours per week throughout the semester then they can only carry five credit hours per semester.
Most people don't ever make any money so they don't know what they are missing. Nothing kicks in a desire for wealth more than making serious money. You start to get really greedy when the government starts taking 30%+ of your shit. Small oversights result in $10k tax bill Christmas. The 50k crowd barely gets touched when it comes to taxes and are otherwise unbothered by the realities of handling money. They just have to remember to pay their bills--there isn't much left over to think about.
....and games will continue to get less fun. This is great for real-time rendering of My Little Pony on your desktop but graphics enhancements have not been helping the gaming world create fun games. Destiny died off in what....a month? Amazing mechanics.....not fun. The list goes on and on. Meanwhile all people really talk about are 20 year old 2D games that are coming to retro consoles.
Unfoetunately I have to agree. Hamurabi understood how dangerous it was to have a small number of people in a society who understand nothing but abject violence as a deterrant roaming around in a large populous. The people who are willing to rob others so easily are in that group.
Interesting to see the immediate affects are greater than anticipated. Rental properties are difficult to profit on. Not hard to imagine this being a thing.
If people see you hiding in a corner drinking coffee and slinking off to smoke five times a day they are not going to think of you as a technologist. Corporate world is not wired that way any more.

I consider that torture.

I thought it was 50k?

You deserve to die.
New rule: No working past 7PM on Fridays!
I'm already done and it's only 1:30.
Dude. It's our oil. We must liberate it from irresponsible, incompetent market players

Oh yeah....democrats are going to break up those monopolies...just you wait see....golly gee willlickers....
The data is not deleted from the analytics platform. Nothing ever leaves the data warehouse.
Spot on. As this story unfolds Im left wondering why this is treated as abnormal. The general awareness of reality in pop culture is low and slow.

Yes. Abstinence.
I can see a VC firm or other shady business promoting a "hackathon" only to gobble up ideas and possibly steal some code in the process.

"Programming by itself just isn't special anymore. "
Bullshit. Most people do not like it. It is not easy money.
