That's a good point. For the password guessing, the first three password combos could be the following:
admin/blank
admin/admin
blank/admin
Just Google "default passwords" sometime, and start picking sites. The majority of default passwords for consumer-grade networking gear can be cracked by using any of the above three combinations. Throw in a method for cracking WEP, and you've got everything you need.
I grew up knowing a lot of older people who have been in and out of prison (One of them is in his early 60s, and has spent well over 30 years behind bars, mostly for robbing banks), and all of the ones who have been to both state and federal prisons have said that state prisons are hell, while the federal prisons are pretty easy in comparison. The only difference is that with a state prison, you can get off on parole after doing maybe 30% of your sentence's time (That varies from state to state, I'm sure) if you can get past a parole board. With federal prisons, you have to serve at least 85% of your sentence, because you can have 54 days taken off each year for good behavior.
So the "federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison" (Man, I love that term) stereotype would apply moreso to state prisons than federal prisons, and it wouldn't apply at all if the person getting locked up stood their ground and fought the first person who hit on them, regardless of the other guy's size. At least, that's what all of the aforementioned ex-convicts I knew growing up told me. Make of it what you will.
Looking back, it was like I was in that old MTV special called "Scared Straight," except I wasn't criminally insane, and I wasn't being yelled at.
As I was reading the end of your reply, I swear I thought that URL said "freebsod.org." Which made me think it was a link to a pirate copy of Windows.
Yeah, I've had a long week.
Toward the end of the video, when the guy is trying to rap about the beta test, look at the background. There's an animation of a hammer smashing a computer.
1. I'm sure the little animation of the hammer smashing the computer has actually played out in millions of households since the release of that video.
2. Those girls are probably still asking, "Would you like fries with that?" to this day.
First, Microsoft pretty much laughed openly about buying the OOXML vote in Sweden, and now they're openly backing both sides of the argument in this case? Has the borg finally decided to quit pretending, and just display its true form to all who can bear to gaze upon it?
I've had several people tell me over the years that Wal-Mart actually pays people to pose as shoppers, whose sole purpose is to try to catch someone in the act of stealing. This is on top of the cameras they have in the ceiling, and the little old ladies who stand around the exits and pretend to read your receipts.
I thought it might be some obscure router setting, but I've been having this problem for a few months. Since I barely download things anymore (re: Linux ISOs), it hasn't affected me nearly as much as it would have, say, 2 years ago. Still, this entire situation is pretty ridiculous. Comcast basically says "You can get this speed for $xx.xx a month! It's Comcastic!" but then they act like a bunch of little girls when somebody actually uses what they're paying for. For that reason alone, The guys in suits just want to be able to milk their current infrastructure for longer, and I don't have any sympathy for them.
What I find funny about this is that broadband probably wouldn't have gotten as big as it is right now (At least in the U.S.) without warez. Stop and think about how many of your local broadband ISPs were pushing the ability to get music, movies, and games more quickly a few years ago. Comcast was doing that back before legal download services got big. It's like they baited us with the promise of more warez in less time, and now that we're locked in, they want to screw everybody.
What next, are you going to compare Google to Tesla?
With the way all the industry rags seem to be hyping Google lately, it's probably only a matter of time before they accuse Google of building a death ray that's powered by fiber optic lines.
Ah, I forgot to use linebreaks and the preview button. /. really needs an edit feature.

I guess it's a good thing I run Firefox with Adblock, then.

Is if the city offered free Ubuntu CDs as "Windows Upgrades."

That's never been so much as a speed bump Microsoft before, so why would it matter to them now?
The "prettier colors" part is highly debatable.
I think this is probably some sort of public science experiment to see who can fix what first.
