  1. Piracy on Quantum Project · · Score: 1

Does anyone doubt that this movie will be all over the internet for people to download freely via ftp, hotline, or whatever, as soon as a few people have paid for it? Are they gambling on the masses' inability or lack of desire to pirate media on the internet if it's not made as easy as Napster? This venture doesn't seem to me like it has a chance of being profitable.

  2. Latin as a common language on A Common (Internet-Based) Language? · · Score: 1

Latin would be an excellent common language for an internet world. While it has not been used much for some time, many European languages are based on it. Were it to become a useful language to know, people would begin to learn it, and in doing so would increase their basic language skills greatly. I know many people who know Latin, and they all speak very good English.

Another advantage would be this: if certain parts of the internet were in Latin, i.e. certain newsgroups, websites, mailing lists etc, one would have to be reasonably intelligent and mature to have the Latin skills to read them. This would eliminate much of the crap that is on the net now, at least in Latin sectors.

  3. Re:Matrix? on Oscar and Interactivity · · Score: 1

A few months ago I went to a seminar with The Reverend Martin Bell, after seeing him give an amazing sermon at my church. He shared his thoughts on the universe, conciousness, and how he saw the world around him. He said at one point that he had seen The Matrix and really liked it, because of the way it showed how our conciousness can be created for us and the way that it challenged ideas about the world and physical reality and existence. This is just to prove a point, that The Matrix was not just a geek movie with fancy effects. While the story may not have been superb, it was simply a tool used to show a setting, one of a world that is completely imaginary by our standards but real to the people in it. For this, it is second only to American Beauty this year.
