My son plays Little Big Planet 2 on the PS3 quite a lot. Most of the time he uses the excellent built-in level designer. This level designer silently teaches engineering and computer science concepts. For example there are actually AND, OR, and XOR gates that you can wire to create logic. The original Little Big Planet was not so elaborate. Kodu Game Lab is also pretty good and is available on PC or Xbox 360 as an Indie download for a few dollars.
What's wrong is that they are suspiciously at the top of most programming search queries even though they often do not answer the question. Obviously they are gaming the search algorithms.
A few of the quotes in the article are about poor support of open source products. But Microsoft don't have very good support either. Depending on license you get limited support or have to pay per incident. You usually just end up searching the internet to solve your problem whichever product you use. So what am I paying for again?
It is possible that someday a group of private (super rich) citizens or a corporation will make some spaceships and fly to the moon, build a lunar base there, and live there. It is possible for them to do it long before a government does it. That would be really interesting because they could reasonably claim the moon as theirs. The response of various countries to this claim would be even more interesting. I'll bet there would be a lot more interest in going to the moon right away to move out those squatters.
One strange thing that the 360 supports: If you plug an iPod into the USB port, it recognizes it and lets you have almost complete control in playing music from it through the 360. I'm not 100% positive but I'm pretty sure it plays purchased AAC files not just MP3. If you plug an iPod into a PS3, it thinks it is an unknown USB device. You would think that the PS3 could get the MP3 files off the iPod but that doesn't seem to work.
I assume that you will be able to find the same videos uploaded by other users without the ads. If youtube could really stop this then there wouldn't be any copyrighted material on the site.
I came up with a similar idea to this years ago but the difference was that I thought it would be good to pay the recipient to read the email and have the ISP get a percentage. So instead of always paying Goodmail 1/4 penny, the sender could decide to pay the recipient $1 or whatever and then the ISP gets 10 cents. This seems to avoid the "extortion by the ISP" issue that was brought up too. Imagine that you could get a producer to read your script by offering to give him $100 to read it. Or pay $2000 to get Bill Gates to read your opinion about something. This sounds crass but it is no different than what lobbyists do.
The main problem is that I can't really guarantee that the message was read, just opened...
