You must understand that most people in the UK want this. Er, really? Who says so? I don't recall being asked if I wanted any self-serving government dick-head who felt like it, accessing information about me, at will, possibly to try and find a way of prosecuting me for something, excluding me from something, or including me in something. Because the government don't tell us in the news "we are doing something to take away more of your rights" most people just don't even realise it's happening until it's too late.

. One of the interesting aspects, is that most of the music we see today, is still a combination of patronage and intellectual property. The recording & distribution companies, pay the artist to create works, A quite interesting thing about this, is that only a few months ago, scientists were claiming that every possible combination of musical notes had been used - so that would mean that any music that is written now, is by default a copy (maybe unwittingly) of someones work in the past. Does this also then, mean that DRM/Copyright of music is not a valid system, if you are trying to stop someone from using/stealing something that you just copied/used/stole?

Wouldn't you think that AV firms would be glad of this type of competition? It will allow them to (possibly) find and fix a problem or problems, BEFORE they are found in the wild! This will make them PRO active instead of RE active, and will make them more efficient. If they were to try employing malware/virus writers, to create these software problems for them, instead of waiting for them to arrive at peoples computers, then people might actually think their products are worth paying for!

In my opinion, Jesus was just an early terrorist, with a good PR company! Okay, you believers, if he was around now, and railed against the establishment in the way the bible says (especially in the UK or US) he would be locked away immediately! If he had carried out his 'miracles' in the middle ages in the UK, he would have been burned at the stake as a witch! If the same 'miracles' were to be performed today, he would either be making a fortune as a stage magician, or be busy being dissected by scientists. Never mind that his mother got pregnant out of wedlock, in an age when women could be, and were, stoned to death for this 'crime'; she just got lucky and managed to fool most of the people, most of the time! Perhaps Pontius Pilate was one of the few people to see things clearly, in much he same way the UK and US governments do now - kill Osama Bin Laden, and the party has no host! They just need to remember what Pontius forgot - clear all the records so there is no evidence; in the same way that the Whitehouse have done with their E-mails. Sorry to all you believers, please don't be offended - I'm a believer too, I just believe differently to you!

The US police/courts/FBI or whatever, should keep records of the dates that these 'missing' e-mails fall between, and then when one appears, chase them all... somebody, somewhere, WILL still have them all saved, even if it is on an unofficial googlemail account; somebody always does!

I agree with this, I had a conversation with a cinema manager about this subject a couple of years ago; talking about video piracy. He asked why people would buy a pirated film, his position being that you wouldn't have as good an experience as if you saw the same film at the cinema. My answer was that most of the people buying pirated films probably wouldn't go to the cinema anyway, so the cinemas haven't actually lost any money - they just haven't made any!He got the point! I don't advocate piracy, and I only have open-source/freeware games, so personally, it's a moot point; however, I do know people that have played pirated games, and then gone on to buy and play legitimate versions of the same game, so in that sense, you could argue that piracy is free advertising!

The tutor just seems to expect everyone to know which button(s) to press, and after a very short time, I get frustrated and switch off. Some of my classmates were very surprised when they found out that you don't need Dreamweaver to write HTML, and that you don't have to use photoshop to edit graphics. Given a very specific 'spec' I can write a web-site faster using Vi than most of my classmates can using Dreamweaver. It just proves a point - learn the basics and the theory properly, and you can use the basic tool to do the same job. On top of that, they tell you that if the computer does ever need to go back to them for repair, they will simply re-install Windows! The only way to get a computer from PC World with no OS is through their business department.
