You and I are a match! I peaked at 1500 wpm pushing it about about as fast as I could back in high school. I read extensively on my phone screen, which is not quite optimized for reading, and my reading app (Moon Reader+) tells me I'm running 500-700 wpm in general.
Ebooks are a godsend! Usenet binaries e-book groups are the greatest!
Back in the early '70's, my father bought 2 learning machines for me, one English, one Math. The English machine had scrolls that were displayed through a window as they wound from one spool to another at a measured speed by a windup mechanism. It maxed out at a little over 750 WPM, and I was always waiting on it. In high school, I was tested at 1500 WPM and 90% comprehension. When I read, I read lines, not words. I still run about 100 pages per hour, and read at least 5 books per week, depending on free time.
Very simple fix - when a call is placed, the phone co compares actual source number and displayed source number.
If they don't match, the call doesn't go through. Since this hasn't been implemented, obviously the phone companies
have no interest in stopping this illegal activity, and should be charged as accomplices when the call results in fraud,
wire theft, or whatever else Rachel from Card Services cons some gullible senior citizen into.
I played every version made back when it came out, had hand cramps for days on end from playing it
on a keyboard. For its day it had the most amazing graphics and immersive gameplay.
I'd love to see an updated version!
I worked 7am-3pm for 2 months, 3 years ago. Other than that, either 11pm-7am or 7pm-3am, or random hours on call, for the last 24 years. I get all messed up on vacation or out of work for some reason. Normal circadian rhythms do not exist in my world, since when I was working on call I lived a 20 hour day for most of the week... work 8, off 12, work 8 off 12. I'm still amazed that only a very few of my co-workers have died from falling asleep behind the wheel before, during, or after work.
The days of working during the day and sleeping at night are long gone.
Win98 - Decent OS
WinME- Absolute crap
WinXP- Love it!
Vista- Absolute crap
Win7- Not bad at all, pretty decent overall
Win8- tried the preview, hated it within minutes.
Win9- hoping for redemption.
Microsoft's pattern continues - good OS, crap OS.
I seriously doubt there will any detectable increase in the surface temp of the chip when this heating occurs, so that part of the story
is a non-issue to me. What is much more important to me is extending the life span of the NAND flash, meaning SSD's
and other devices using it will no longer have such a short useful life.
I have not even considered buying an SSD so far precisely because of that. This technology, if it works as promised, will make me
take the plunge! .
I just updated my Galaxy S to Gingerbread last week. Not a major change, but seems to a little better all over.
The only incompatibility warning I got was that Doubletwist would no longer be running constantly...an app
I had no use for, didn't want, and could not get rid of without rooting.
I have to disagree...reflections from the 245mW laser made from a DVD burner will
fry your retina...reflections from this thing will vaporize your head!!
