"Lose music sales" due to illegal P2P sharing.

Stop reasonable use such as putting purchased CD (with 13/15 songs being worthless) on mp3 player.

Force people to repurchase songs.
PROFIT, BABY!!!
In other news, I'll never feel bad about downloading songs from major artists as long as MTV Cribs continues to demonstrate2 the poverty that those artists have to endure.
Though I do think it's crap that owners of the original HL2 don't get a discount, that's not the point of my post. I used to like steam as a distribution method--no need to search for random discs. However, I was trying to host a session of garry's mod 10 I had purchased on my desktop, while connecting to it on my laptop (to separate processing, give me more interaction controls, and provide a 3rd person recording device while i interacted on my laptop) Steam not only told me that I was already logged on and thus, could not do that (bs, since I purchased the *@#$@ game), but it now can't start on either PC. Somehow it crashes upon startup EVERY TIME now. I hope this is some stupid catastrophic bug over the shady alternative of copy protection. Anyone else had anything similar happen?
Man, if you think MS's problem is lack of developer talent, you clearly haven't met anyone who works for MS.
Turned down interviews there before, will continue to do so.
With this aggressive drop in iPhone pricing so soon, you wonder if apple is trying to grab as much of the market as possible before a (yes, VERY rumored) gPhone announcement.
Just listen to any rap song. How does it begin? By letting the listener know who's rapping, the year, and who they represent (label, city, neighborhood, etc). Audio ID3.
Rest assured I only came into this thread to post what I did. I did not RTFA, because it does not interest me. I fail to see, however, how all of these incremental iPhone dev postingS (yes, more than one!?!?!!!1111oneonewonwon) make it to the front page of slashdot. Thus, it shows up in my RSS feed--therefore drawing and wasting my time and attention. Which, as it turns out, I'm doing more of by posting. However, if these 10mins worth of posting can discourage even ONE more of these from reaching the front page--time well spent. Carry on, friend. Carry on.
Good gravy. When did the iPhone become the Paris Hilton of gadgets? I don't want to hear about it every day, either. Just think back... how many "iPhone spotted at _____" stories have their been in the past 9 months?
Pretty soon we'll be seeing the iPhone being locked up and sent to rehab to get a fully functional SDK. Or maybe it will be hanging out with OLPC (Lohan).
Unavoidable and becoming just as painful....
"I grow my right hand thumbnail long, file it down so I have a bit of an edge leaning left"...
Gross. Move it to your pinky nail, and I'm sure the number of your "friends" with similar abnormalities will grow faster than you expect. I'll leave it to you to figure out why;)
I hate these flipping biased "reports" (from any side). But as far as UAC/Vista goes... anyone who thinks that it actually is worth a d4mn, just go to the command prompt and try to delete that folder that forced UAC authentication. What? It works?? Security my ace.
I know I was impressed by the new Compiz Fusion videos, but I never expected M$ to throw in the towell.
Vista is a disaster... Once the mindless trolls that make the corporate decisions (at every company at which I've ever worked) learn that... sigh. if only.
... take a deep breath and think about it. I think apple is a creative, innovative (often borrowed innovation) company but this is lame. Consider the applications you find most useful during your day. Most of them (especially speciality programs) are not provided by the OS and even fewer are web-based (Google apps aside--if it weren't for them Apple wouldn't have been so joyously promoting the omggreat3stpwningdevelopment platform).
We tinkerers considering purchasing this platform and making it more capable will slink back into the shadows...
Wow, very disappointing. The stacks look like crap, and the finder is a better, but still too congested. Neither are hardly anything to hide as "AMAZING SECRET FEATURES".
Where is an announcement of Windows integration / ZFS magnitude? Someone please help me not be totally disappointed AGAIN (See: MacWorld '07).
Intel is already beginning to TRY to take on the graphics market (see: Santa Rosa and beyond). If ever they had motivation and/or a reason to do so it would be if one of their principal competitors merged/purchased a major graphics company.
Yeah, like THAT would ever happen!... O, wait.
Intel needs to devote some extra resources to proper development of a dedicated video option. Integrated can never fully meet many customer-groups' needs. Additionally, the way they own the processor market they can afford the risk to branch into this sector. AMD is competition, yes, but hardly a threat.
to build a customer base is to alienate your existing customer base.
I bought an R200-based laptop a couple years ago. ATI decided to just not support those cards in their fglrx driver package one day. Why would I buy from a company who won't continue support for their own products for more than a couple years? I will make every effort to never support them again until they get customer/product support in order.
NVIDIA, bravo.
muahahahah... I love it!

...where he earns up to 7 cigarettes on a good day. I'm not sure what that would be here after cost-of-living adjustments, though.

Agreed. I used to listen to all kinds of music, now I realize how little I actually like.

I am still holding out for beta to take hold of the market... its time has almost come!
I guess it's a slow news day. How am I supposed to avoid work all day when this is all slashdot has to offer :(
What exactly do you think an SDK is?

Yeah, it WOULD be nice if ESPN would start showing more East/West coast team highlights... Lord knows they neglect them way too much now.

You're right... i have been using the radeon driver for several months. Out of principle, though, I'm pissed. :)
