  1. What surprised me.. on Duchovny to Quit X-Files · · Score: 1

..is how for the whole life of the Millennium show I managed to hear nothing about it. NO buzz, no fuss, nothing. Well maybe I did not pay atention. I accidentally discovered it in the current re-run on FX: this is order of magnitude better show than anything else on TV. I made me accept American Television, which I hated, and watched only sparely, for language comprehention practice. Rerun is in the middle of the second season now and so far I like it.
I really hope they make good miniseries...

Not for the grad school. It is nonexistent - in the way Americans expect it. I have got my diploma from the Physics department there. It is a good equivalent of MS degree here. In the grad school you just write your thesis and hardly get any additional education except for your narrow field. I would claim it is impossible after american style college. Moscow State is the best place to get your undergraduate in Physics or Math. You actually learn something...

That's true. And I do not write assembly either. But I do write a lot of numerical analysis code for my research and would like to know if any generic libraries using SIMD are available. Especially for C++ STL - so I can write getChecksum(vector& Data) and it uses MMX2/Altivec or whatever to calculate that faster then the build in alogorythms or my hand code.
