Google ----content/ads ----> You You ----sales----> Advertisers Advertisers ----money----> Google
Fairly similar to the TV model where the shows still measure ratings through you not through their advertisers. 'Customer satisfaction' is probably not the best term for what these guys are measuring though.
That a $200 computer I can build with 750GB of storage and is always online cannot?
Given the occasional inaccessibility of GMail, if this data is not ALWAYS AVAILABLE, I don't see the point of the exercise. The only other advantage I can see are download speeds, but upload speeds are getting better day by day. If I pool with 3-4 other people for a solid internet connection (or if I am in college), I am all set...
For those 0.005% who are confused, the first thing I downloaded for FF was the User Agent Switcher and my browser pretends to be IE all of the time while actually being the firefunk!
I've seen several that are still up and obviously placed (with the proper tags and stuff) as I have seen ones that were pulled down for copyright violation. Do they or do they not violate copyright? Are only the ones 'caught' for violation pulled down while others thrive as the copyright holders allow them to stay up for free advertisement? Shouldn't Youtube voluntarily pull these to avoid potential copyright infringement?
Oddly enough, even AFTER Google bought Youtube, I found severl 'pulled down' Youtube videos on Google video. These were TV shows mind you.
OK! So if upping frequency doesn't work, why don't they just lower the wavelength?
Damn you knowledgeable types... Always finding fault in EVERYTHING. I bet you were standing right next to Orville whispering "It's gonna crash..ssss.." right in his ear.
I stand corrected. I generalized to say that atheists don't believe in things without logic. In my defense, you are the first one not to fit my stereotype:(
Oh! for heavens sake! Ok... I'll correct myself - it's EA Cricket 07
Of course, if you were not being pedantic, and you really wanted info, Codemasters is supposed to have the better game. Neither is available for US Consoles. Only PC:(
Actually, the netflix model seems weird in that you can only watch 6 hours a month. I assume that when the guy says the time constraint is still there, you lose from the 6 hours. On one hand, there is the agreement you sign. But what I am complaining about is the restriction on fair use that these agreements force you to accept.
For the record, I use Blockbuster purely because I can return the game in store and get another movie then.there.
Jsut because I CAN doesn't mean I AM... Kinda like modchips. What if I want to watch it offline again? Doesn't the time limit take care of the permanent copy issue?
Umm.. maybe emoticons didn't convey my tone correctly, but I am indignant at the MEDIA COMPANIES that force us to hack content to be able to get what we paid for:(
Hypothetical situation: 20% of your ad revenue comes from EA. Would you bash EA Cricket 2007? Would I find an honest comparison of Codemasters' Brian Lara Cricket vs. EA Cricket 2007 in your magazine?
The Netflix site was down for maintenance early Thursday, although it was unclear if it was related to the hack. The site was back up later Thursday morning Is it still not Thursday? Wonder if the hack still works.
Very depressing that people are now hacking content they paid for:(
Did we (even those without tinfoil hats) know this already? Isn't that why we never read the cheapo magazines, but bought it for the CDs with demos/useful utilities when we were on dialup? I think we all read game mags with a critical eye - especially articles pimpin' a game or a product. So why is this news?

For jobs at career fairs, yes. Otherwise, not really.

this is because the people who stuck with Yahoo we're fanbois while new users gravitated to Google and didn't like it as much as fanbois loved Yahoo?

Again, if it is not available to me 24x7 (I know gmail is not and there were instances of gmail losing people's mail), what is the point?

Until I break the time constraint, how does it matter? Why do they need DRM in the first place?
