    That is only recommended for jazz or classical music. For rock you need to use a cyclical freeze-thaw process using liquid argon and the skull of a saint. You forgot to wave the dead chicken and do a chicken dance around the cables. That will align the quark bosons in the metal to enhance the hypersonic frequencies of the bass amplitude suppressor...er..feedback sample dampening...modulation.........

    It's all because the Heisenberg cats are controlling the transmission. They control the horizontal, the vertical, and the outer limits of them there quantum encrypted packets, but all these cats want to do is lick themselves and sleep.

    Great point. We seem to be more materialistic in a big dumb way nowadays. After have the biggest crisis happening for most Americans, 9/11, and the President tells you "Let's Mobilize! We need people that know Arabic, Russian, and Chinese! Start recycling and energy conservation! Let's be energy independent! Give tax breaks for those actually investing in Colleges, Universities, and R&D!", then we become motivated to get up off our butts, go to grad school, and do breath-taking achievements.

    Wait a minute, he didn't tell us that! He told us to just carry on like normal. No rallying the troops. No telling us what we can do. Just carry on. Who needs to go to Grad school for that?

    That shows the current priorities of this country as opposed to the time of Pearl Harbor, Sputnik, the 1960's assassinations, and the Energy Crisis. Neither most of the government nor most of the people give a flying flip about little Johnny being much of anything anymore, they just want him to go shopping.

    I postulate that even the very long term survival of the United States is now in question, whether we remain a relevant power or not. Can a Republic survive when you have sheep^H^H^H^H^HConsumers instead of Citizens? I think not.

    Another reason very few Americans get advanced Science and Engineering degrees, as compared in the past, is because in today's wonderful economy.

    When the economy for new Engineers tanked around 1990, there became a big incentive was to "ride out the recession" in Grad school, not jump into an non-existent job. It was strange to find out almost half of us American student in my Master's Computer Science program were new as well. I think it was the last time us American students made up almost half of the student body in that program. When a recession hits again, watch for the number of American students entering such advanced Science and Engineering programs surge.

    Not everyone wants to be made to work 60 hours a week for ANY reason, or at least during certain times in their life. I was happy with my 40/hr a week job because I had a family. I wasn't trying to "get ahead" and "be a CEO", I wanted just to maintain what I had. Now I'm an empty-nester, I'm willing to work long and hard to get ahead.


    If the CEO can't seem to breach the next revenue level, why should he slave drive his people, many do not really want promotions or big raises or such, to suddenly work 15 or 20 hours a week more. And for what? Increase in thefts, complaints, accidents, and even sabotage.

    The execs are SUPPOSED to put in long hours. That's why they get paid the big bucks. They have decided to "marry" the company and give their all for it. In return, they are supposed to get extremely good compensation. The tougher the job, the longer the hours needed, and the more dedication needed to make the company a success, the better the compensation is supposed to be.

    As for the average Joe, where the compensation is not that good, and work is still difficult, why should he give away his labor for free with NO promise of compensation that means a lick to him? Everyone is not an executive. Everyone is not a "born leader". Someone has to be satisfied working on your IT equipment day in and day out and getting paid just an average living for it. Someone has to be satisfied with not advancing up the management chain. For those people, why is it a crime for them get paid for overtime or work their 40 and leave?

    And, no, when a company get bought out, unless you are in management, you are a piece of furniture to be thrown out. When some people work their butts off for a company only for it to get bought out, the scene is "thank you for your services, now get out! Oh, you want to work FOR US (hahaha), get in line!".
