Are you retarded? Please.. It sure wasn't listed out on Intel's front page or announced publicly. There are literally thousands of knowledge based articles. Does every user have lots of time to go through every KNB there is? Unless you knew to look for it, you'd never find it. Slashdot and the Inquirer especially post news that isn't out in the general public & mainstream media. That's what they focus on -- the dirt and not-so-public info that 'inquiring minds want to know' (to steal a phrase from the National Inquirer). If you hadn't seen this article on Slashdot would you have known otherwise? Have you seen it all over the mainstream tech news? If it wasn't for them digging it up, you wouldn't know. Have you seen public announcements by Intel or critical updates on Intel's or Microsoft's website telling all their customers that they need to get this update? NO.... And you won't. Because Intel doesn't want a bunch of bad publicity or an image of 'we produce flawed processors' when they try to keep a pristine image purely of "we're the most reliable and stable processor available".
That's been their marketing for years and it's worked well for them. How many times have system and network admins and MIS Directors and so on made standardizations on Intel purely because they had a mindset that Intel processors were the stable ones and that if they went with AMD that it would risk stability on their systems? The whole mindset that Intel has created is that their processors are THE standard for stability and perfection. That's why it's been kept quiet. Just because you're obviously a die-hard Intel fan doesn't mean you have to get instantly defensive. lol
