Whenever I install Creative x-FI drivers on a machine at work, NTLDR decides to take a nap and the boot partition is no longer recognized as having an FS. we decided to remove the x-FI card
Here's a good one. I work for It an my Uni and MS sent us a corporate version. It refuses to talk with their authentication server and locks itself down after 2 weeks. Our student labs already have Vista just because we need to use what most people are going to be use to, with all new computers shipping with it.
The brain can't even differentiate pain/sight/touch/warmth/cold/etc. The brain is still "learning" it's connections. When babies are born most of their lack of eye "sight" is that their brain is still learning to see. A better analogy would be, do you think that vegetable of a person minds being cut up while still alive? not a perfect analogy, but better. They don't know who they are, they can't effectively feel, but can react to stimuli. They're no more human than your skin cells that you shed every day or kill when you scratch an itch. But habitual abortions are gross and some kids need to learn self control. Most of the "pain" that we feel if we're about to die, is that *we* know we're alive and what's going to happen. We *understand* what is taking place, we're not just reacting based on what genetics has decided what makes us most likely to survive but thoughts. I don't think most infants at 1st trimester lay claim to knowing one self and understanding life/death. eg. I'm not scared to die, I'm scared to suffer while most animals would rather suffer than die.
they should just say, all coal power plants must be shut down by 2075 and no new ones can be made. ma'b people will actually start caring about getting more nuclear. coal is horrible.
Screw math, we need a class on general problem solving and trouble shooting. In IT we have to understand *everything* in order to help someone. My CIS teacher told me "The client doesn't know what he wants or needs, you need to find this for him" and the client being the owner/CEO/whatever. "my speakers stopped working" = the *green* plug is plugged into the *blue* port next to the *green* port.. WTF?! This is your average person. How can the speakers stop working if they couldn't have worked in the first place. We need people capable of figuring out stuff on their own and researching. Once we can start getting this down, math will come naturally. The only thing I've learned as IT is "Never underestimate the stupidity of average intelligence." I love working with and helping people... but wow.. it's never ending
How about these people with genetic disorders that shouldn't be reproducing, but because of modern technology, they can pass on and screw over a new person? PPL with genetic problems... L2Adopt
old analog cell phones put out tons of power. i think my current cellphone claims.001watt to 1watt max. old cell phones where like 1watt to 10watts and typically used higher wattage due to crappy signal.
I guess i can't edit my previous post, but i also forgot the mention since the 180 watts is draw from the plug, that also account of inefficiencies in the system. so if my devices are only 80% efficient, the real power draw from the internals is really 144 watts. which isn't bad with all the devices that I was running at the time.
ditto. my poor old 1800XP with 1gig of pc-266, 2 HD's, 17" CRT, Logitech z-680 (505RMS) set loud enough to drown out background noise, claims to only consume 180watts while playing WoW. or so says my battery back-up. even then, I ran my back-up till it claimed 10% life left for S&Gs and it came out to almost perfect with predicted times based on 180watts. I have no idea how a new computer can pull 500 watts idling

doesn't most power usage come from the back-light and not the LCD itself?

so, when i can't drive to work, do i just sit on welfare? sounds productive.
in a nutshell, all the refurbished ones were indirectly cherry picked as to be defective do to the nature of the original problems.
