Absolutely right on the price. $125 an hour is about the rate that I would charge if I were a college graduate trying to start my own consulting firm. You're not going to get anyone decent for under $300-400 and hour these days, and you'll need to spend more than that to get someone good.
In Europe and Asia, populations are much more heavily concentrated in urban areas. There's a reason that most of the population of France can get 30 mbit+ connections - the overwhelming majority of the entire country's population lives within a 40 mile radius of the capital city. The same holds true for many other nations.
But it's about time that a university stood up for its students. My guess is that worries over future endowment contributions will mean that universities begin to take the defense of their own a bit more seriously.
