I agree with you on this. There are proprietary parts for nearly every gadget we use these days. I have lost many power supply units over the years... and I have been forced to buy proprietary replacements each time. As I wait for my Apple iphone to be delivered (I purchased off the Apple Online Store) I know I will confront many additional expenses as I use it over the years.
