  1. Journalists Have No Need For Algebra! on Firefox 8 20% Faster Than Firefox 5 · · Score: -1

So, allegedly FF8 starts in 90% of the time that FF7 does, and FF7 starts in 90% of the time that FF5 does. 20% faster != 19% faster. What the fudge Sebastian? L2 DO ALGEBRA!

  2. 1st grade with Photoshop Experience. LOL on Making Airport Scanners Less Objectionable · · Score: 0, Offtopic

"a 6-year-old could do the same thing with Photoshop" ... ??? WTF That guy's a retard. A 6 year old is a kid that is in the 1st grade. No-one in their right mind is going to train a 1st grader how to use Photoshop, when they can barely read as it is. And from the way this guy talks, I bet his accountant is a 1st grader too.

  3. DMCA set this up for failure! on National Data Breach Law Advances · · Score: 1

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but according to the DMCA, bitswapping is considered as encryption. (Remember dvd encryption, and how it only took those guys mere minutes to brute force against it? That made me want to laugh myself to death.) What's to prevent the health care industry from doing the minimum encryption possible? Most corporations are mostly interested in the bottom line, which means the minimum dollar amount required to achieve the minimum compliance level necessary to cover their own ass. And, then they'll probably advertise more on the fact that they're compliant, than on the act of actual compliance. The smoking companies are pretty famous for that. And who's to say that whatever compliance level that is described (if any) in the bills, aren't annually revised to maintain a sufficient level of effort required to still make cracking the encryption impractical. Because, if it's not, then just wait a few years, and the power of technology will let you brute force/crack almost anything. We're already at the point where there's news of 2+ attacks against WPA1. And with personal health info, the average lifespan is 70+ years, so that means you could probably sit on the data for 10 years or more while technology makes cracking the encryption way more trivial than it was when it was encrypted.

  4. What the university I attend does on How Should I Teach a Basic Programming Course? · · Score: 1

I know in my undergrad program at the university I attend as a student, the better professor's try to involve/interact with you in class. Also, make sure that powerpoint presentation information is available for students to download and review. The interactive portion of class makes you pay attention more, and helps to work the problems out that are being projected on a large screen. But, that's really only applicable in classes of 40 or less. Also, one thing that the CIS department at my school does, is that they give out a pretest to evaluate what the students already know, and it allows them to tailor the class a little bit. Which would be especially useful if you were starting a new class for the first time and no one else was able to hand you the materials from how it was previously being taught (and that would be assuming that those materials and lesson plans were even good to begin with). You could also try referencing how to assemble a lesson plan for the course you're going to be teaching from other freely online CIS courses (http://www.intelligentedu.com/cat3.html). Furthermore, you're going to need to review some books for the course that the students would end up using. So, you'd want to contact the book publisher to see if they have any associated workbooks, powerpoint presentation, and possibly... pre-fabricated lesson plans. And above all else, try to stick with a book that can be followed by the students, and that hopefully progresses from chapter 1 through the chapter you intend to complete. I can't tell you how much it pisses students off to be in a class where all you do is hop around the book like a scatter brained fool.

Then there's the technologies. I have experience with MySQL, PHP, Perl, Linux, Flash, GoLive, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, QuarkXpress, Font Management, Sound Editing, Video Editing, C++ & Java. I don't have any experience with: IIS, ASP, C#, Dreamweaver (I used to though). I'm also curious to know what you've seen as being the profitable technologies that clients are interested in for web development. I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions. It's just hard to find someone willing to tell me much of anything about their experiences in webdesign/development. So, I hope I'm not being a pest. =)

Might I ask in what state it is that the market is so highly in your favor. And is there any webtools available for determining what kind of demand there is in Michigan without starting off selling my services like that of a cheap hooker only to find out that cheap hooker is as good as it'll get? Because of the value of your contract, am I correct to assumed that is 150k is not for 12 months of work, if not what is the length of the contract under which they procured you? Also, because of the size of your contract, I'm wildly assuming that you're under contract by a fortune 500 company. lol. Somehow, I'm making another wild leap in believe that those kind of companies are the only ones with enough cash to through around like that. I've been wanting to do web development for quite some time. I have the business name and softwares, I just ended up doing tech support for $40 bucks an hour for people. That was nice while it lasted, but at this point I need to do something that would require less traveling for me to excel at. Oh, and I'm not interested in competing with you. Just more so trying to evaluate just how valuable web development is versus my Computer Information Science degree that I'm still working towards. And, how I would go about sling shotting my way onto the open market for making myself available, and attractive to new more enormously funded clients. Thanks.
