What or who is "it"? Ambiguous pronouns are not good. ...and I think it improves life in pretty obvious ways: less time wasted sorting through spam to find real emails, less bandwidth and storage wasted, less time wasted by otherwise useful programmers on making spam filters, less awkward questions from 10 year olds asking their parents what Viagra is, and generally less annoyance.
