It's NOT about being "first". It's about being good, or even best. Ever wonder why we aren't using the FIRST word prcessor, the FIRST spreadsheet, the FIRST portable computer etc. any more? Or do you actually have an Osborne-1 with WordStar and VisiCalc that you use today? Apple never claimed they were the first so why keep pointing out the obvious?
Apple make design-decisions (like prioritizing UI speed to make the interaction smooth instead of laggy like on Android) based on mass market needs. The nerd herd of Apple haters whine about tech specs noone else is interested in, and wonder why their design preferences are not more popular since of course anything else is Wrong. And because of their lack of business understanding they invent stuff like the "reality distortion field" or this "sheep mentality". Sadly, it seems these nerds have found employment in some companies, and thus doom their employers to insignificance because they did not get it and will never get it.
It's no more "anti-trust" for Apple to control the environment around their device than it is for Sony (PS3), Microsoft (XBox 360), Nintendo (Wii), camera manufacturers (think that Canon lens is going to be usable by a Nikon camera or that Nikon lens on a Canon body?),... Which other companies do you feel Apple are "in trust" with? Microsoft ran into trouble because of their exclusivity deals with other companies.
they will patent a chair that straps you to it during ads so you cannot leave to do something else, and disable the remote so you cannot switch channels.
You can redistribute the binaries (the.ipa file), but due to the DRM they are useless for anyone else, unless you add that device to your account... But you can send that file to someone if you like.
Apart from VLC which was taken off after a DMCA copyright notice, what GPL software has been attempted sold on the Apple app store though? There haven't been that many tests of whether the GPL and App Store are really incompatible.
Another solution could be to pack the source into an archive that you put into the app (though that increases the size, typically source code is not that many kilobytes) which the user can unpack.
If I put a GPL-licensed binary in a Dropbox public folder, and someone downloads it, does Dropbox become responsible for distributing the source code too? Can I, the active distributor, offer a different venue for the source if needed?
Extend that to the whole Uplift saga (of which Startide Rising is a member). I'd recommend starting with the first, Sundiver which has crime novel aspects and an interesting plot twist and plenty of suspense.
... and for those who only think of the Discworld books: He has also written some good sci-fi, including books for kids
Truckers, Diggers, and Wings constitute a trilogy about a race of tiny people discovering who they really are. Strata and Dark Side of the Sun have interesting plot twists. The Johnny Maxwell books are probably also good for an eight-year-old: Only You Can Save Mankind, Johnny and the Dead and Johnny and the Bomb.
Troll much? It's a fucking flat Bluetooth keyboard, the kind that the iPad has supported since forever. Apple makes one, Microsoft makes one, how does equal make one better?
But yeah, Windows is needlessly complicated to use, I guess that gives some people a sense of accomplishment to master, much like owners of 1920s cars who manage to get their clunky old vehicles to move as they scoff at the modern easy-to-operate cars zooming past them.
Don't forget Ballmer singing the praises to the HP Slate a few CES-es back, a product that HP effectively let sit quietly in their portfolio and did jack all with.

And it is SO FAST that as it zoomed past, the Year of the Linux Desktop only lasted for two seconds.
Yeah, I am sure Microsoft did not have any expenses during the development of Office that the $400 price is supposed to cover.

I bet you call Geiger counters "Geiger-Müller tubes connected to electric impulse counters", too. You are fun at parties.

At some point I guess we will tire of trying to counter ignorant Apple haters, and get on with our lives, leaving you to your own stupidity.
Until then, expect counters.
Yes it does. If you think only "fanbois" buy iPads you fail@business. It's like believing only zit-faced parent-basement-dwelling teens buy PCs.
Except for all the people returning the Surface RT because they mistook it for the later-coming Surface Pro.
Not sure if Fire returns after Christmas have been deducted from the Android numbers though.
What, you never heard the one about "we're losing money on every unit but we'll make it back in volume"? :)
Or even better: Has he stopped fucking dogs? It's a simple yes-or-no question.

No, no, you are just assumed to already have a Windows or Linux PC, it's only Macs you need to buy...
Then make and sell hardware that isn't. If there is a market for it, that is.

Only if the "keyboard cover" ships with the device instead of as an extra - otherwise you can also say the iPad has a keyboard since you can buy one.
Why do you think so? On Slashdot, Microsoft has its own army of haters. Apple fans are not needed to scoff at this.

Well, they renamed the "old" Surface product to PixelSense just to avoid - or add to the - confusion.
The success of Toyota only shows that most people are toyeeple.

I use my (work) laptop with an external monitor, but cannot be arsed to use a docking station or "full" keyboard. Works fine without.
