  1. Re:So what is Congress good for? on FCC Declines To Probe Disclosure of Phone Records · · Score: 2, Insightful

Using the power of the purse to shutdown the war and domestic spying programs? Nope, their fingers are just as deep in those coffers. Enacting new legislation to hold the myriad bells accountable for their violations of privacy in Fed Court? Nope, Repubs have the Supreme Court on lockdown now too. Kindling?

  2. naughty nurses on Hospital Wants Critical Blogger's Anonymity Ended · · Score: 1

The company in questions, Essent, alleges that *patient records* are being handed over to the blogger in question and this is why they're raking his ISP over the coals (can't drop a subpoena on someone you can't mail a letter to....stupid legal system). If they are violating patient's privacy, I'm with the hospital on this one. If they're fronting because they're guessing the posters are hospital employees and they want to clean house, then I hope those posters know how to use an anonymizing web proxy.

I think a more appropos analogy would be that you took your car with NOx in for a warranted service and while they fixed the covered item, they broke your NOx tank. Whining about having to re-unlock your iPhone after the update is analagous to claiming that the service center should fix your NOx tank. If you wanna play with the big boys, shut up and do your own admin! (and for the love of all that is holy, ditch the idiot tail on your civic which isn't going to generate any ground effect and buy an f'ing muffler)
