"It was discovered on the 20th that Sony is considering reducing the scale of its plasma TV manufacturing and sales business. There is also the possibility that it will withdraw entirely from the market next year. Currently Sony manufactures and sells plasma, LCD and rear-projection types of slim TVs, but with the continued increase in size of LCD screens, it is looking at concentrating its business resources on LCD and rear-projection units, thereby increasing its competitiveness in the market. Slim TVs had, until recently, been divided along clear lines, with LCDs being used for medium and smaller screens, plasma for larger screens, and rear-projection used for the largest sizes. However, advances in LCD technology now allow mass production of screens of up to 40 inches in size. In addition, with a Sony/Samsung LCD factory coming on line next year, it appears that Sony have decided it is more profitable to produce their own LCD screens rather than obtain plasma screens from other manufacturers. Sony's main plasma screen factory in Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, will reduce its production of plasma screens over time, and increase production of LCD and rear-projection screens."
Fedora tends to need a bit more tweaking for various reasons...
First thing to try is to run the game from command line like this:
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1/usr/local/games/xxx/yyy
If it still doesn't work, you might need to screw around with installations of old X libraries and use LD_PRELOAD (needed that for Jagged Alliance 2 on Fedora Core 1).
Funny you should say that - I was thinking of buying the black version of that case (it's an early Lian-Li, if I'm not mistaken) when I put together my 400MHz dual-PII box with a Matrox G200 and a Voodoo2 12MB 3D card, back in 1997 or so.
Unfortunately, when I had a look at the real thing I found it rather cheaply made.
...but have you tried looking for a decent CRT these days? Nanao/Eizo, which used to be my favourite monitor manufacturer, has zero models available. Many other manufacturers have at best a limited range.
It might be better there in the US, but here in Japan, it's getting hard to find anything but el-cheapo 15-inch CRTs (for people who can't afford/don't want to spend the money on an LCD) these days.
(I don't think it's mentioned or particulary relevant in the book, although the Earthsea Archipelago culture is markedly Euro- or even Anglo-centric, not a surprise coming from a white author to a white audience.)
Go back and read the books again (if you ever read them properly, that is, which I find doubtful). It's mentioned many times that Ged, and the people of the central islands of the Archipelago, are red-skinned or black, whereas the Kargs are more Nordic in appearance.
Note that find... -exec foo is considerably slower than find... | xargs foo, as in the first case find just blindly runs foo for each and every item picked up by the find, whereas xargs is slightly more intelligent.
Strangely enough, I dare say book retailers in Japan would realise that they would only be driving customers *away* by doing something as draconian as banning mobile phones in store (90%+ of phones in Japan these days are camera phones).
More like "GNU/Benighted Nations".
I'm betting on Amoogle.com instead... and it's still available, too. Quick! First one to register it wins a free subscription to the New York Times!

...you try this place for your mouse and keyboard.
Although if you find their $US5000-8000 pricetags a bit much, the overstock page might be a bit more useful.
Yeah, I'd think it looks quite nice if it weren't for that HUGE FUGLY LOGO on the front.

Mozilla, ActiveState Perl and MySQL? Read the list again - he's a web 'developer'.

Don't forget his urgent need for Quicktime. Last time I looked, most development didn't involve watching movies on your PC...
...acquiring IBM's business would help them raise their brand recognition and status among more affluent, brand-conscious consumers.
That should read:
"...acquiring IBM's business would only cause IBM to lose brand recognition and status among more affluent, brand-conscious consumers."
Come on - people buy Thinkpads because they want a quality product, not an El Cheapo hunk of junk.
Like, someone cleaning out the pipes without taking safety measures?
You don't need to blame an incident like this on sabotage if it can be explained by human stupidity and lack of proper safety procedures.
They spent money on a corporation of murderers?
No, no, no... you've got it all wrong. The proper title is:
Only Old People Talk to Robots... in JAPAN!
HTH, HAND.
BWAHAHAHAHA
Thanks, that was great.
More a simplified version. I had GtA on cartridge - it rocked.
"Extraneous Disaster Salesmen"?
They're the same company, dipstick.

If you don't understand an argument, just say so. It'll make you look better than resorting to infantile insults.
That was kind of my point. Perhaps it would help if you read comments before replying.
Have you seen those big tubular trucks driving around? I think they call them "tankers" or something.
Believe me, whatever problems exist with battery technology, how to move them around is the least of them.
Hydroelectric power.
Wind power.
Wave power.
Solar energy.
Nuclear (fission) power.
Nuclear (fusion) power someday.
Not every country in the world is obsessed with oil, y'know.
