Typing this running Ubuntu on an old Macbook Pro. The wonky touchpad support is the biggest problem with Ubuntu imo. I have absolutely no problem grabbing thin edges on MacOS or Win8 on the same machine.
Otherwise, once you rip out all the advertising, the latest Ubuntu is really impressive.
Malwarebytes seems a bit light for corporate use, but scanning software on windows-based file, mail, and remote desktop servers is pretty much mandatory. Assuming you don't need it is assuming nothing could possibly get past your other protection systems.
Unless it is in a virtual/remote window, in which case getting the mouse into one of the corners is frustratingly fiddly and your Win-C etc. keybinds are mapped to something else depending on your environment. WS2012 is fantastic. Win8 is an abortion.
2nd this. Use it all the time to give friends and colleagues access to their email while traveling or whatever. Wipes all data when they log out. Need a mac though; doing hackintosh for just this is overkill.
Some, not all. And you are talking about broadcast video cameras. This is a cinema camera. Compare RED EPIC/Scarlet, Sony CineAlta F35, Canon C500, BlackMagic Cinema, etc. All made as simple modules so you can ADD shoulder mount OR put on a jib or steadycam or whatever you want.
The color saturation, gradation and tonality are far beyond anything digital can do.
This is no longer true. Download some sample source footage from the RED or BlackMagic cameras and have a look. Both their software tools are downloadable last I checked. Amazing stuff.
Unless you're looking at a 1G file size, digital will never be equivalent to Kodachrome.
Yes, the data files coming out of the new cameras shooting in RAW formats are huge.
The whole point of this and other cameras like the BlackMagic Cinema Camera is color depth and dynamic range. Think RAW vs JPEG for digital stills. They are intended to fill the market gap that RED's original 3K for $3k Scarlet was supposed to. The VG30 and the various DSLR video modes aren't the same thing at all.
Somehow I can't imagine organizations asking 60 year old secretaries to head out to the parking lot in steel toed boots and safety goggles. Thus these machines.
I think a lot of people assume that the bad guys are only going to use commercially available file recovery software to try to get data off of a zeroed drive. Think scanning electron microscope, etc.
Also remember that custodians of secret (military, diplomatic) or private (medical) information can be criminally or financially liable if it gets out. $10K for something quick and sure is totally worth it.

Just to be clear, ALIX is a PC Engines product sold in the US by Netgate. There are other sources. http://pcengines.ch/alix.htm
Sounds like China. Or the pre-civil-war South.

Or equivalent other thin linux distro. I assume they really only need web access.

This isn't an ENG camera, it's a cinema camera. Want shoulder mount, add one.
Er, you mean like in the 3 chip cameras Panasonic has been making for decades?
