Here is a tip: Don't use a public terminal. Just use your own computer, and use their free wifi. The SSH/Tunnel to your secured server and then do your business.
I know it doesn't directly answer your question, but otherwise, you would pretty much have to accept the security settings that the public terminal come available with, because the terms of use might prevent you from running your own software or taking over the machine, out right.
I wonder if Craigslist has since edited its bylaws. It should have a clause for first buy back, to prevent this from happening.

eBay Sues Craigslist

It is possible to sue the execs (craigslist) because they did not follow the best interests of the shareholders (ebay). An extremely simplified version of this is execs are spending ebays money, inappropriately. Thus, the value of the share drops, and ebay loses more money. I think this is also referred to as a hostile takeover. This could be an attempt on ebays part to gain more clout.
That may be true, but there is a different demographic that would generally carry the burden of the load. If you are healthy, single, childless and working; you pay more in taxes and get less back in benefits and tax cuts/tax returns.
simply put, it's harder for a person new to databases to jump into. MySQL kinda holds your hand with phpmyadmin and it's other admin tools. PG has pgadmin (but not as featureful) and by default installs where you can't access the DB until you su as the postres user and give out permissions. Are they *trying* to make things hard?? So... if they're both open source, why not just port phpmyadmin to PG? Would it really be that hard? They did, per se. Its called phppgadmin. It is nice, for simple tasks.
Why is it the socially accepted norm that the guy has to be the initiator and the girl gets to be the decider?
Despite the fact that Google has 7.9 million hits, and Webster confirms it, I am not so sure decider is a real word. If it is, The Dub, is the decider.
Also, you may want to stop pursuing divas and chase someone who is geek, like yourself. I think that women, who have genuine interests in real stuff, and not themselves, would make great friends and breeding partners!
Acting as a sole proprietorship can be very dangerous, in some cases. For those who incorporate, whether C or S, can be a very good thing. For example, depending on the state that you incorporate in, your corp can have limited personal liability.
In case something bad happens, the guy who incorporated should not worry about his home being taken away from him, in most cases.
Also, obtaining S corp status can be a very difficult thing to do. But, it does come with benefits. S corps do not have to worry about double taxation and are sometimes cheaper to run, as a company.
When a vendor chooses to sell his/her product in Walmart, they have to met very high expectations.
For example, if WM is unable to sell 100% of the product, the vendor has to buy the difference back (via store credit). Or if WM sells the product too quickly, the vendor has to be able to meet the demand. If Everex has problems meeting the demand of the supply, WM may choose to pull that product from it's shelves.
WM's press release may have very little to do with the real reason it was pulled.
I had a compiler on CP/M which generated assembly and sent the output to an assembler. I don't think GCC works that way. It probably generates machine code directly. Maybe it has a symbolic "assembly" layer inside.
DEC C on alpha/OpenVMS had an option to output assembly. I don't think it generated it otherwise. Yes, it does. EVERY compiler does it that way.
I can agree that it is getting ridiculous seeing all of this shallow patriotism, especially after Sept 11th.
But, on the other hand, sympathy reminds me that Negreponte seems to have a genuine altruistic motive. He wanted to help the needy children of other countries and leave the USA out of having the opportunity of purchasing these laptops. It could be, that after many blows to his cause, including important team members leaving, under-handed tactics from Intel, and the surge of competition around the OLPC, he is only trying to save the project, by opening up to USA. And maybe the patriotic theme is just this guy trying to keep his pride and save a little face.
For those who are interested, Walmart's business model is based on the fact that consumers are willing to purchase a product of lesser quality, for a lower price. Seriously, Sam Walton discovered that there is more profit to be made, by selling more lower quality products with lower prices, as opposed to selling fewer higher quality products with higher prices. My point: Walmart makes more money by selling more
Also, that is why you never catch a "sale" or "blue-light" special at Walmart. Their business model also includes venders stocking their shelves, with a cheap wholesale price. And that whole price typically drops over a n-year period. That is how Walmart is able to "roll back" prices, pass the value on to the customer, and maintain profit.
All of that being said, You do get what you pay for. It is a cheap computer, for a customer that is willing to purchase it. PCMag should stop comparing apples to oranges.

I think the purpose of high school is to prepare young adults for the so called real world. That being said, I would recommend using Photoshop. It would be a real disappointment to know that you taught the kids all about GIMP, but they could not take their GIMP skills to the local web design company.
However, I think it is also wise to teach diversity. I would recommend also teaching GIMP and maybe a few other software packages, for the purpose of literacy for many different graphics packages available.
While I agree with your comment. Let me offer a different perspective: Would Linux be as popular if Linus was still the only developer? Your Mythical Man Month answer is not always appropriate.

It depends on what state the company is incorporated in. Some states have better laws that limit personally liability (read: Nevada).
You forgot the obligatory 2008: Year of the Linux Desktop.

You are not likely to see this kinda comparison in a Macintosh magazine. Mac people do not need this kinda validation. /sarcasm
I could make a joke about how this is stupid and they should go fark themselves. But, I won't, cuz I gots class.
Am I the only one that read the title: Former Anti-Nuclear Activitist DIES A 180
