Following this reasoning, victims' relatives could then sue gun manufactures for every person ever killed using one of their products.
Why stop there? how about knife manufacturers? let's sue them as well.
And forks, oh yeah they can very dangerous in the wrong hands.
And baseball bates.
And chainsaws, and hammers, and scissors and staplers, what the hell, let's sue everyone in this f***ed-up country.
I've been toying with a similar idea for some time: dedicate some of my time/skills to try to make a little difference no matter how small, although I also thought that the third world it is not in dire need of the techie skills I've got to offer. Doctors & farmacists for medical help, teachers for education & literacy, engineers for better infrastructures (water, electricity, etc). That is what they probably really need most. I'm not sure if they really need us to set up a network or a cybercafe for them although it is probably worth a try. I just wonder how many people go do this kind of thing not just to help others but to feel better with themselves. The society we have built generates lots of burn-outs fed up with this crap where the supreme value is money and no-one gives a shit about anything else. Feeling depressed today? get out there and buy something you'll feel better for a little while. There is a whole bunch of people that is so attached to OBJECTS that they are nothing without them. Many of us geeks are a bit like this.

It was on the telly about two weeks ago here in the UK. It has this kind of old 70s cheesy feeling to it but still interesting to watch. We lately get lots of films like this at weekends, mostly around 2am. Others recently shown were "Easy Rider", the freaky "Naked Lunch" and "Logan's Run". Books like "1984" and "Brave New World" should be read by everyone at school, they sort of open your mind.
Progressive: 1. moving steadily forward or onward; advancing. 2. proceeding in regular or ordered steps. 3. favoring social or political progress or reform; liberal
C'mon give me a break, how on earth can these guys call themselves progressive? "Require internet service providers that wish to qualify for safe harbor to collect personally identifiable and verifiable information from their users" Hang on, may be is in sense of definition 1. progressing steadily towards... an orwellian society I say. If this is a progressive policy, the Pope is then a hippie!
