  1. Too easy to create another user on Slashdot Moderation Phase 1.1 · · Score: 1

    It sounds like a good idea if only the people whom we don't wish to hear would keep the same user ID. I feel however that would not be the case.

  2. Can one decline to be moderator? on Slashdot Moderation Phase 1.1 · · Score: 1

    I am not a moderator. I generally don't have much to say that hasn't been said before. But, if I were given the task/priviledge of being a moderator, my employer might believe I am spending too much time reading slashdot and not enough at what I'm being paid for. Besides, I have no desire to be a censor.

  3. Impressions and feeding the gnome on Batch of LinuxWorld Bits · · Score: 1

    Yes, I fed the gnome to support the FSF and bought a /. shirt. [Does this count toward community service?]
    The FSF/Debian/slashdot corner did have the most geeks/sq. ft. as mentioned by a poster above. They didn't have any CDs though. I admit to being a software whore. DSL isn't getting installed for a while (sigh) and I can't wait all night for downloads.
    What happened to free stuff? I've gotta stand in line 10 minutes for a shirt? Toss them to me! I'm offering free advertising by walking around with a company's damn name on my back and they need more info?

    Oh well. I came by to say hi to Rob, but someone was parked next to him discussing AC posts.

  4. Wrong PCI Specs; the real ones here: on Apple Announcements · · Score: 1

    This is from Macintouch:
    dedicated video slot is PCI 2.1 compliant but allows only fixed, 66-MHz operation at 3.3 V.;
    the other [3] PCI slots can switch between 32-bit and 64-bit operation (at standard 33 MHz) and operate at 5V.

  5. apocryphal reason on Star Wars Episode I Pictures · · Score: 1

    My friend in High School was an ardent Boba Fett fan. The reason he gave me referred to a scene that (supposedly) never made it to filming:
    We meet Boba Fett in a scene where Vader hires a bunch of Bounty Hunters. After Vader leaves, Boba Fett kills the rest of the bounty hunters.

    This has always made him seem more cool to me and explains why Boba Fett was hiding in the garbage as well when he saw the Falcon leaving for Bespin. Anyway, I don't know if it is true and recommend a grain of salt for all readers now.
