Slate recently did an article talking about all the improvement about the Dallas Police Department specifically gaining great ground in reducing violence using training in deescalation, so while we don't have all the facts about this specific instance yet, deescalation is definitely on the DPD's mind and has been implemented in their police academy. http://www.slate.com/articles/...
I really think you're only describing the poor teachers. Good teachers are always working to find new ways to reach the students to actually, you know, teach rather than just read textbooks at the students. Each class is different, and has a different mix of learning styles to consider. In addition, the best teachers are keeping up to date with new discoveries or updates to their fields. Even subjects like history have new and exciting things being added to our understanding all the time. So even while their only "at work" from something like 8-4 (depending on the school district and a few other factors), it's reductive to say all they do is spew information.
Considering the first flight of the 787 occurred in December of 2009, almost 2 full years before it's first commercial delivery in September of 2011, I'm wondering what could have possibly happened between those dates?
Your point about what a jury would think is moot in the United States. If I recall correctly, under the current system you do not face a jury trial, and can be held possibly indefinitely (even though Guantanamo detainees have been moved or released). Although I am by no means the most informed individual on this issue.

Or they'll just use the standard Office 2013 rather than Office 365... problem solved?

HTC Evo that came out June 4th has a front facing camera with the same idea in mind it would seem. http://gizmodo.com/5554198/htc-evo-4g-review-a-war-machine
