If it gets that bad I would prefer high powered bold action rifles. If I have to shoot someone I don't want to be any where near them as they could return fire. I think there are far too many people who want there to be open armed revolt in the US as they want to live out some Mad Max Road Warrior style fantasy. I hear these people in the woods when deer hunting, they empty their firearm when trying to hit the animal.
Hand guns are typically much louder than long guns. Additionally a solider on a battle field is typically outside where you won't get the echo that you do at an indoor gun range. Shooting a long gun in the woods or in a field while hunting is much quieter than shooting them at an outdoor range (roof overhead and concrete floor), which is still quieter than shooting at an indoor range. Also my uncle's handgun (.40 S&W) is much louder when we shoot cans outdoors than any of the rifles we have (Remington 770.30-06, Marlin.30-30, Russian M91/30 7.62x54r). I suspect that the reason for this is the shorter barrels, larger diameter bullets, and additional unburned powder from handguns compared to rifles but don't know for sure.
I do a fair amount of tracing, but I still like going out with the GPSes and collecting data. To get really accurate data into OSM I have uploaded some government data sets. I have been known to delete an entire town's road system (garbage tiger import that is beyond repair) and replace it with open correct data from the state or county.
There are always buildings, businesses, addresses, fences, power lines, parking isles, parking lots, utility boxes, etc that could probably be added. I usually add in stuff in my town or places that I hunt. My town has lots of additional detail including sports fields and other amenities that are in the various parks, in addition to the trails and paths through them. I have started mapping out the trails in various state forests in Minnesota as well as it doesn't appear that the MN DNR has much if any info on those as they are probably not official trails. I tend to go on OSM binges every few months.
For bratwursts and other real sausages (not the hooves and snout sticks) cook them with an indirect heat turning every 2-3 minutes. They are done when you can feel them boiling on the inside when you pick them up with tongs.
That is why I will pay a butcher to process my wild game. I know how to do it but it really would be a hatchet job, and I would end up with an awful lot of ground venison if I did it.
Can't view the video from work but I always like using the BernzOMatic propane brazing torch, a small cylinder of propane lasts about a year, gets the coals ready faster than lighter fluid, electric heater, or coal starter can, and costs less than lighter fluid.
Unfortunately useless gadgetry is what makes the US economy go now. This seems to be especially true in the world of cooking. What I want is set of good thick stainless steel copper bottom sauce pans, a couple of stainless steel (non coated) fry pans, a couple cast iron fry pans, a good set of forged knives (the only serrated ones are the steak knives and bread knife), etc. I don't need some overly expensive Teflon coated anodized aluminum fry pan with special ribbed interior surface.

The best BBQs are the ones made from those thick heavy metal drums or fuel tanks. Cut it in half, weld on some heavy hinges, a frame, handles, and some vents. Mine is made from a 55 gallon drum, one of my dad's friends made one from an old 500 gallon fuel oil tank.
Damn straight. I only use the thermometer when cooking a roast in the oven. I use the finger poke method for steaks and burgers, for brats they are done when you can feel them boiling on the inside when you pick them up with tongs (they vibrate).
With experience you don't even need a thermometer. With experience and practice you can tell how done meat is by poking it with your finger to see how firm it is. It does take a fair amount of practice. Also for best grilling results don't use a fork to flip the meat, use a spatula or tongs as they won't pierce the meat. This will keep the juices inside the meat so even if you have someone who likes their steaks well done they will still be juicy. This is also why I don't like using a thermometer.
No that wasn't what I was trying to say. The milk in the bag is still pasteurized but doesn't taste like crap like the ultra pasteurized milk in a box that doesn't require refrigeration until opened. As far as coating the bags they are probably made of the same or similar plastic as the gallon jugs so I don't worry about it.
If it can withstand temps up around 250F I would love it for mason jars for canning. It would also have to be fairly resistant to weak acids (vinegar) at that temp as well.
Actually I saw an article a while back in my local that some substantial portion glass isn't recycled into new glass but instead is made into sand to be used in golf courses.
All the milk my household goes through is in a bag, as is the Orange Juice. One of the gas stations here in Minnesota sells it that way and it is much cheaper. They even give away the pitchers to put the bag into. The pitcher has a J shaped slit in it so you can close the open end of the bag in to seal it as well. I got introduced to it in college as the nearest gas station/convenience store was this brand. I gladly take milk in a bag any day over the ultra pasteurized milk in a box that doesn't need refrigeration until it is opened that is available in France. I also don't have to deal with the stupid plastic milk jugs here in the US as even when crushed they take up way too much space in the recycle bin.
Sounds about right. Assistant manager at the gas station I worked at wasn't bad as it didn't entail much additional work other than on the weekends running the daily reports and interviewing potential new hires. After working that job and then seeing the movie Clerks I laughed my ass off as I realized it is much closer to non fiction than fiction. I think about the only thing that didn't happen at my store was someone dying in the restroom, the rest was all similar with details changed (football on out on the drive instead of street hockey on the roof for example), even the conversations were eerily similar.
Others do compete on price but the quality isn't there. When I have looked at bulk Legos on Ebay or Craig's list I am surprised at how many listings state "No Mega Blocks".
I wouldn't say indestructible but as far as plastic toys go they are about as good as they get. I have my Lego sets from 30 years ago and while some didn't age that well, being pre divorce where both of my parents smoked heavily in the same house (how long does the smell of cigarettes stay in things), the are still completely useable. I even have my dad's Legos from when he was a kid which are getting close to being some of the original Legos. Granted a number of the pieces show wear, scratches, scuffs, rounding of corners, discoloration, but they still work perfectly with new ones. When compared to some of the Mega Blocks that I had gotten or others have bought my kids there is a night and day difference. My wife thought I was a Lego snob as I refused to buy Mega Blocks for my kids until she had to deal with some of the Mega Blocks that my oldest son got. I lump Legos in the same catagory as hard wood blocks, the metal Tonka trucks, and good quality electric trains as being great toys.
Sounds like when I worked at a gas station in high school and college. I was the assistant manager and was frequently offered my own store, probably 5 times in 3 years, but didn't want to spend my life managing a gas station only to eventually become a district manager. Early on I learned that a good regular, non management, retail employee was one that wouldn't steal, showed up on time, and could fog a mirror. The overnight guy met these criteria but when I first started I though he was worthless as he never got anything done. When I bitched to the manager he educated me that Ron was the ideal overnight gas station attendant as he loved working the overnight, didn't steal, showed up every day, was on time, and stayed awake. Later in my job there as assistant manager I trained a number of managers on how to manage a gas station. The sad part was how many of them had a 4 year management degree and thought they were gods gift to management. Problem was that you can't just tell a high schooler to go plunge out a toilet and expect them to do it, they need to see you go plunge one out first. Also they never understood that you can't just fire a high schooler until you have a trained replacement unless you want to pick up their shifts. The worst manager trainee we had I ended up telling him "I turned down the job you went to college to get so that I could go to college so I won't have to manage a fucking gas station the rest of my life." because he was such a condescending ass hole. One of my managers at the gas station also pointed out that he would much rather higher college students and pay them a slightly higher wage and also the tuition reimbursement (it was from the company and something like an extra $1/hr) because they were motivated workers, wouldn't just up and quit, and would show up for work unlike those who only graduated high school.
I will admit that I did vote for bush both times, the first time was naivety. The second time I was still believing that voting for a 3rd party candidate meant throwing your vote away and really did not like Kerry and by comparison Bush seemed the better choice. Granted both times I knew my vote wouldn't have mattered as I am in a fairly blue state. Now I actually vote my conscious and vote for a candidate that I believe is better but still participate at Republican caucus events trying to get better candidates.

I didn't know the finer details. It was explained to me the way I laid it out but then I would admit that that is just fairly simplistic.
My state does that as does the US federal government. My personal favorite is:
The MN DNR data deli
There are others as well:
Federal GIS data
MN legislature GIS resource
MN DOT
Minnesota MetroGIS
2011 US Tiger data set
USGS data
National Atlas
This data is all freely available and you can go do what you want with it. Granted you need some program that can parse and display shapefiles but those aren't too hard to come by as there are some very capable open source ones available.

To fully understand zip codes in the US the full 9 digit zip code is the 5 digit post office number and the 4 digit route number.

I wouldn't call that cheese even as an American.

I am more surprised that the Targets with grocery sections bag your stuff.
