A car is not a weapon. It really is a tool and has a wide variety of not only nonlethal and non-sporting, but nondestructive uses. Moving people and goods around is a big one. They are used as such every single day in the vast majority of non-sporting use cases, rather than this being the exception to the rule.
A gun is not a tool, it's a weapon for killing things. If it's supposed to be a tool, it's an extremely shitty one. Why would you want to put a hole in something from a distance? Just go over to the thing and use a fucking drill like a normal person. The gun offers poor control over precise placement of the hole, the angle and depth of the hole, typically only does a single hole size, and offers a poor finish on the hole. When I drill holes they are of wildly varying sizes, placement has to be correct down to a small fraction of a millimeter, and a correct angle and depth is very important.
You're working in computer repair? HAHAHA if you're real lucky you'll get yourself a half-decent middle class existence, adjust your level of effort to suit or you'll just be spinning your wheels. I'm guessing you're in your late teens, maybe early 20s, there's plenty of time for you to stop wasting and realize that Ayn Rand was full of shit. If I'm wrong about that...well sucks to be you. Rich people have never touched the inside of a computer (at least definitely not for business-related purposes).
Would these be the same ultra-wealthy industrialists who own gun & ammo manufacturers and back the NRA, or the ones who were buddies with the Bush administration that did jack shit to keep you from your highly inefficient sandblasters for armored vehicles?
As an underpaid 3rd-world Gen. Y IT worker, we are just absolutely fucked. We have no options, no car or house that can be downsized. We might never have these things. Older American IT workers can demand more money because they have more options, the cost of living is not always less for the outsourced labor. So call companies that outsource unpatriotic bastards, they are, but don't act like you're not lounging in the lap of luxury compared to the foreign workers.
As an underpaid non-American Gen. Y IT worker, we are just absolutely fucked. We have very little opportunity and no resources to fall back on. No newish car to sell or house to downsize. Older American IT workers can demand more money because they have more options. So call corporations unpatriotic bastards all you want, they are, but don't act like you're not massively better off.
G.I. Joe offers terrible training, suggesting that revealing, borderline homoerotic costumes make good battle armor, that hanging onto the sides of vehicles is a safe way to move around a combat zone, that the enemy is absolutely incompetent and can't shoot worth a damn, and it's OK if you can't shoot worth a damn either...and those are just the tip of the iceberg.
To me this looks like Google is trying to make sure that if it can't make money on something, no one can. I don't see why it has the right to go out and strong arm other private companies.
Because they can.
This is economic power, libertarians. It's a real thing. If you were running a search-dependent company Google was targeting, would you survive until a popular Google competitor arises? And they're not doing this under direct legal threat, they could just as easily cut companies off for business or even personal reasons.
...Then we'd all be blocked from half of the Internet. I already had to change the exit node on my home connection to a bridge node because I couldn't get shit done anymore.
If he really thought it was communist he should have left. He didn't put together a plate to mean "California's a bit too liberal for my liking" (HIPY4NA?) or something like that, he said it was communist. That's a pretty serious accusation.
You're right, it's too bad there's nothing between a horribly broken tax system that lets companies entirely dodge taxes on corporate profits, and communism (which is also the only alternative to capitalism).
a gun is a tool for defending against a threat
Is that not basically the definition of a weapon? A tool for maiming or killing that has no other practical use.

Apart from the loss of $10k this is just a good upgrade opportunity.
"To the market! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems." - Every CEO.
I'll avoid Titan and Goodyear offroad tires in the future, although I haven't run across any yet.

I was tempted to, but if you keep reading pretty soon you get past the boilerplate Libertarian rhetoric and onto the interesting stuff.

It was a mistake, the first one seemed to go down a black hole and didn't show up on my user page.
There's no formal kopimi license, nothing beyond specifying that it "wants to be copied."

This was my first thought, with the site's kopimist license I don't see how they could win in court.
Wasn't Pedobear a kids' cartoon character before 4chan made him the bear who likes no hair down there?

I was thinking monopoly abuse or perhaps collusion but I guess that's a form of competition, right?
This. Ubuntu has jumped the shark so long ago. It lost what made it special. Why is anyone still using it?
And also the greatest surviving torrent directory.
Google Search.
Some of the best piracy for music at least is through Youtube these days.
Ssssshhhh!!! O_O

My first thought when I saw the headline. Although even 15 minutes of Internet fame is worth as much as a PhD on the job market so he'll be fine.

Nice work not supporting the society you live in, the world needs more people who are part of the problem!
