    People will pass a basic test to vote. Those that don't vote will pay a small tax. Those that do vote will receive a small credit. People want to act like idiots, we'll put the dots close together for a couple generations until they get the hint.

    Testing has caused a shitstorm every time. And then after proposing this, you want to reward people for voting even if they don't give a shit? What could possibly go wrong?

    Your implied claim that only the rich and politically connected would have access to life extension techniques is dishonest leftist demagoguery (but I repeat myself).

    How is this? If it's an expensive elective procedure then how will people who can't afford it get access to it unless it's provided by some kind of universal health care system (and no such system that exists today covers elective procedures)?

    Came here to mention this. It will also have serious implications for population control and doesn't play nice with capitalism. The movie In Time wasn't a serious sci-fi flick but it presents a plausible scenario.

    Kept me out this year, there was a lot of interesting stuff I really wanted to do. The real dealbreaker was the electronics seizures, I'd probably suffer the same fate as Moxie Marlinspike. And that's assuming I wouldn't be carted off to Gitmo - which I wouldn't assume if I had a middle-eastern name.

    Now, hands up who volunteers to be the first one to get to the hijacker, more than likely to be mortally wounded, so that the rest may live.

    I'd do it if I was on the plane. Better to get up and take a shot at surviving than to remain seated and certainly die.

    Well others have pointed out that AGW typically means Anthropogenic Global Warming...and BTW the term Climate Change was actually a term forced on NASA by the Bush Jr. administration.
