I see they allow both autonomous and RC. Now who in their right mind is going to field an autonomous bot against RC competitors? They should have a separate autonomous-only class if they ever want to see one entered.
Yeah I really can't care enough about the original TMNT story to be upset about this. It was a half-assed backstory to a cheesy kids' cartoon. The only way this will meaningfully alter anything is that the turtles wouldn't have grown up on Earth, but that's easy enough to gloss over in a mindless Baysplosionfest.
It would be hard to explain to the average user but Windows and OSX seem like toys compared to Linux. Linux is Serious Business and is years ahead feature-wise.
But the features the average user would be interested in are:
- MASSIVELY cheaper than the competition, making the switch will save you LOTS of money, and lots of work in the long term, although setup requires more effort - Change PC parts, or the whole PC, without a care in the world! The OS won't fail to boot, or lock you out because it suspects you of being a filthy pirate. - Lower system requirements - jump off the upgrade treadmill and move at your own pace! - Viruses are practically a non-issue. - Possible to fix problems you'd just have to live with on Windows/OSX.
Of course there are the big downsides - running recent Windows games is a crapshoot, there's a good chance your wireless card will act up (yes even today), and they may run into a few apps they have trouble replacing or running on Linux.
I think you mean non-fossil - ideally, yes, but just switching to electric vehicles is good futureproofing, and in most places is still much cleaner even with fossil fuel sources, since you can fit much better emissions control equipment on a large building than a small vehicle.
Agreed. They should have kept the purchase quiet and leaked it. Worst case scenario, imagine the hilarity of the US government scrambling to keep it's own laws secret.
Battery issues are coming to an end, soon enough the range anxiety crowd will be recommended a therapist instead of a bigger battery. Average-Joe-priced electric cars are already going 100 miles on a charge and doing an 80% quick charge in half an hour. That's over 3x the average American's daily driving distance. The vast majority of cars could be replaced with electrics right now.
The only thing we really need petrofuels for is non-tiny aircraft, and in the short term, non-huge boats.
Why not just *not install* these fucking skeezy apps? I see so many replies on how to block the functionality instead of just not infecting your phone in the first place, it's pretty sad.
I do the same thing using Multifox, it's like splitting one instance of Firefox into two (or more).
Google won't log you in by IP, with so much NATting going on an IP doesn't mean much and doing so would cause huge security problems, although they might be able to track you behind the scenes using a combination of your IP and browser fingerprinting. You can use FoxyProxy to redirect all traffic to Google through a separate proxy if you want to be sure.
Until the last couple of years a lot more phones were being made in other places with better working conditions, but somebody started a new race to the bottom...
Pretty sad that an app being free implies serving ads. Apple has brought the '90s Windows adware experience to the masses (that *is* where this new curated computing & adware trend started). GNU 4 life!
True, first the virtual highway system will need to be completed. And then you won't live to be able to afford one - look at the Moller Skycar, it was over a half-million dollars and that price was probably optimistic. Then there's the legal shitstorm of allowing VTOL flying cars to take off and land in random places if you actually want to use it like a car and not a conventional small aircraft.
Oh sure it could be possible to fit the planes with weapons on the black market if you keep it very secret, but the minute any military gets word of a vigilante fighter on the loose it's going to bring a lot of attention at the very least. That said I wouldn't be surprised if the US government turned a blind eye for the MAFIAA.
The "uninhabited island" thing is legally infeasible, ask libertarians (not the very nuttiest ones though, like the Seasteaders who didn't get the memo).
Yeah I think TPB comes up with these wacky plans once in a while as sort of a sci-fi concept to demonstrate how hard it could be made to take a site offline at the hardware level. It could be possible but it wouldn't be cheap or easy.
Is there anything like styrofoam that's biodegradable? There are already RC planes made of various forms of it. Still you can't get away from the battery and electronics...
I can see some applications in wireless teledildonics. Installation would suck though...
Yes quite a nice Weighted Computing Cube he's built.
And the world might be a better place if politicians spent their time worrying about the roof-melting crisis rather than taking bribes.
It has been measured at 1.21 jiggawhacks, to be exact.
...but why am I immediately reminded of the "genetic fusion" technology from Invader Zim?
LOL check out the Mechs page...I see there's a good sense of humor among the competitors XD

Rule making bodies love nothing more than to punish success.
You're probably the kind of person who doesn't understand why they don't allow EMPs in Formula One or tasers in American football.
This guy had the idea of creating a real mech battle league:

Maybe you did. And if so, WELCOME, to the woooorld of tomorrow!

No fusion though :-(

Rossi at least seems to be selling snake oil.
