Spending time at a Help Desk (2 yrs) and then learning to test & write specs were a great foundation for me in IT. I think most IT people could benefit from understanding those perspectives! Now I've got my ITIL certification & am trying to get the boss to cough up for the next level, as they made me Change Manager. ITIL is hot stuff on the west coast in the US of A.

Since I have a human donor heart valve in my chest now, the ethical questions are over whelming....A cloned part would remove the rejection problem (hence my 2nd surgery), however, is purposely terminating a clone better than taking the rejection risk of using a valve from some one who died of other cuases. Or what if the donor didn't die, because they got a cloned part...how many clones would be created then? Would I still be here if he already had a clone created & I didn't? .....

From a personal point of view, if i could have a mouse grow me a new heart valve, and not wait to see if someone dies beofre me, so i can continue living, I would be happy. such things are already possible, but not allowed. But even this small part of animal & human research leads to other ethical questions. How long to we keep replacing people parts? What does that do to the world's population over time? And the first one to call me a hybrid gets it right in the kisser!:)

My father in law would get upset when he had a 'clear' day - the saddest thing: 'Oh, I didn't know I have grandchildren. They are beautiful.' He was in home at that time, as we couldn't keep him safe anywhere else. But he did escape one day. He went to the firehouse down the street, and reported for duty (he retired 25 yrs earlier). Fortunately, some one at the station recognized the name and contacted us. And bless those firefighters, they brought him back to the facility in the fire engine! He was truly happy once again for a little while. When well down the path of alzheimer's my grandmother thought my grandfather was having other women 'visit' him at night. She would go make sure the doors 7 windows were locked so the loose women couldn't get in. At 89 even he thought that was funny. She had always been such a fiesty little thing. Spouse & I have agreed, not to let the other suffer.
