    It supports 2^52 bytes (4 petabytes=4.50E15 bytes) of physical memory, that should be enough for the next several years, but why not plan ahead at have it support the full 2^64 bytes (16 exabytes=1.84E19 bytes)?

    When you do a 32-bit register add in the new "long mode", the high 32-bits are zero extended. What a pain in the ass.

    Quantum computing will be the big thing, if it's possible. Even the biggest proponents admit it's going to be decades until they replace conventional computers. But if quantum computers are successful, you're going to have all big-O for lots of stuff.

    On the topic of cloning, I don't understand what the big deal is. A good portion of who you are is determined by your environment, your experiences. Besides which, remember your clone is going to always be decades younger than yourself. Unless we manage to do something about aging. :)

    I think for computational pourposes, the organism from which the DNA came is kind of irrelvant.

    DNA does not get biological diseases, each one those A,C,G,T molecules are only a few atoms, DNA is not "alive".

    Well seeing as how about 65% of this country is pro-death penalty, mainly liberals are against it. and 70% of the country is pro-abortion, mainly conservatives are against, yes the clear majority of anti-abortion people are pro-death penalty. I think the only person who's both anti-abortion and anti-death penalty is the pope.

    Yeah, forgot about Ultima 8, although it's not quite as picky as Ultima 7 (actually 2 seperate games, Black Gate, Serpent Isle) for running. Those needed something like 580k of memory free in geniune real mode (no memory managers). And they wouldn't run with any disk extenders (used if your bios didn't support hd > 512 mb or > 8 gb). I'm pretty sure I've run it fine from win98 dos though. But anyways, in case someone wants some concrete examples of what Win ME _won't_ be able to run: Ultima 7 & 8. They came out '91-'94 I think, so they're not _that_ old compared to some games I still have.

    A smart floppy boot sector will require just the copying of an unfragmented file with a certain name to the boot sector. Of course, Microsoft never made a smart floppy boot sector loader. OS/2 does something similiar to this, there is enough space in that 1 sector.

    Can it run Ultima 2 or Ultima 7? Those seem to have problems running under anything but REAL dos. Maybe there's some patch for Ultima 2, but Ultima 7 accesses memory above 1 mb while remaining in real mode (don't ask), making it be a problem to multi-task.

    This seems to be a change in policy for Sega. Before they seemed fairly chill with people pirating old sega games, compared to the way Nintendo was going after every rom site. In fact they even made a deal with the makers of kgen (good genesis emulation prog for dos), releasing some sega games for sale for the pc running kgen. Perhaps they realized they could make money on these, and this why they're cracking down on roms.

    You don't want to know how jobs from that Chronicle I applied to. I never even got a "sorry you're not hired" letter from any of them. I got denied jobs at minimum wage. My question has the job market drastily improved since early Summer '98 when I gave up at trying to get a job? If I couldn't get a minimum wage job with a HS diploma, 5s on several APs, 800s on 2 SAT IIs, there is something wrong with America.

    In the 1950s, corporations paid 30% of all taxes int the US. Now they pay less than 10%. So are you against restoring corporate taxes to the rates they were when General Eisenhower was president?

    Our eyes have Red Green and Blue cones to see colors, they are triggered over a wide range with roughly bell shaped intensity, by combining them, we "see" other colors. Still information about the intensity vs. wavelength is lost. Computer monitors typically utilize this and are red, green, and blue as well. We also have cones to see dim light that don't see in color.

    It's really not about majority rules. For instance it's looking like Bush is going to be the next president. He's against abortion, his running mate is even more against it. About 70% of Americans are pro-choice. Of course abortion is the only difference between the Repulican party and the Democratic party. Vote nader.

    Wow, guess you have all the connections with people hiring. The fact of the matter is that many highly skilled people ae unable to get jobs, or worthwhile jobs in the country. This capitalistic system is broken. And neither the Republicans nor the Democrats are going to fix it.

    When I was 18 I spent several months unsuccessfully trying to a get job. I know for a fact I was not counted in any unemployment statisics. This was in a county that claimed only 2% unemployment at the time. Many people are underemployed though, phds sometimes working for less than 10 bucks an hour. The average per capita income was only $9k a much more revealing fact.
