It seems as though most of you are missing. You wont be forced to make micropayments.. the information is free as always there is no place on PA that tells you to make the donation because thats what it is A DONATION, just like your local museum its open to the public people put a buck or two in the plexiglass bin and look at the art others walk past it, some even walk up to the desk and offer gobs of money. point is those places and this structure has been around long before the 'net came about. it seems to provide enough dough to keep the (super expensive) art coming it could probably provide a better subsistance to websites than banners ever would. if you need more proof PA has been running their "honor system" for about 5 days now and they have already raised this much. i think the honor system is a great idea and as soon as i get a credit card i will be supporting my homies, gabe and tycho and help them to pay the bills, just like a buck in the plexiglass, a few clicks and i help out something awesome
I've been working at my current job since i was 18, im 20 now and have single handedly revamped the website, installed and now admin our 8 servers and done general techwork and maintenance, and although i am more technically astute than my boss he insists on keeping me out of the decisions on which software is best suited for our office, which language to write such and such application in, and so on. the office and managment respects me as a person and as someone of technical merit but the decisions on how the servers/clients ultimately get run and what they run is left to an inexperienced senior. all too often ive been forced to use an application or language i know to be inferior and are often the cause of any problems me/the servers/the users incur. it seems to me that the respect is there the trust to make long term decisions for the future of the office, however, is not.
I would like to patent recursive slashdotting, wherein a News item is posted on slashdot with a link to a place on the slashdot server, slashdot now doubles its trafic and is effectively "slashdotted" next a new news article must be posted to apologize for the laggy server stating "sorry about the slow response times, our site is being slashdotted bear with us we hope to be back to normal operations by the end of the day" in slashdot fashon one must link to the site being mentioned and by following that link people will again multiply the hits incured by the server. flaming the person to post both the first and second offending news items will receive massive ammounts of angry user flame, further bogging the crippled servers.
Candidates,
Please give the (1)name, and in your opinion the (2)greatest accomplishment (3)action you are most ashamed with, of your largest financial backer to your campaign.
the ones who should be held accountable are the ones whos "trusted" programs open up security risks to people running the program as intended. when a massive virus flies who should take the real blame, the ones who made the cheese or the ones who said "this cheese has so many holes its got to be swiss" and showed everyone else?
realistic violence should be restricted by maturity, not age. It should be up to the person if they find the material offensive or too graphic to return the game (or not buy it in the first place) age restrictions are just a form of legal stereotyping
wouldn't it be nice if they were thinking the real terminology of hacker/cracker so when companies tried to collect after being "hacked" they find out that their insurance only covers bad coding incidends from their hired coders (aka hackers). just a thought.
If challenged in the supreme court this would easily be deemd unlawful. This is a clear violation of an individuals right to privacy. Which the supreme court has set a precedence to uphold. The FBI could request information from the isp. But thats as far as their jurisdiction should go.

its a sample it could also be credited to Pop Will Eat Itself because it was a joint song but yeah Smokey and the Bandit is the originator.
