Isn't this what quantum computers are designed to do? I tell ya, screw conventional computing and focus this computer effort to creating a better quantum computation effort.
Eventually, we will have computers that will be able to figure out every course of action from any other given course of action... and the results will be orders of magnitude faster.
Why start teaching CS knee-deep in? Start with the basics of computational theory and lead into a few languages that accentuate some of the key ideals in computational methodology.
Lead into smalltalk and eiffel for the pure OO
Lisp and scheme for some fun =)
ML and Prolog for grammers, structure based definition madness.
Or something like that. What do I know, I was just a CS/CSE major.
im giong to start speaking into a microphone and record a ton of waveforms and copyright them all...
ill be rich!
and the courts will back me on that one.

but who will be able to have a computer that will be able to crack some of the hardest encoding algorithms known to man in a matter of hours?

And I should care... because?
Windows sells when it comes out. Like it or not, its the truth.
Now... if the story went "First Windows XP Systems Donated To Third World Countries" I would be impressed.

gives a new meaning to firewire...

it just explains all of it. doesnt it?
