You study whether there are period inputs into global temperature, identify the most prominent, if any, and report what you find be it good, bad, or ugly. Are they seriously saying *every* study that examines inputs besides man-made warming is biased and political? This sounds like a much more slanted perspective than "please take my money to consider other inputs as well."

I was trained in college as a HW guy, did a few boards and ASICs, and now I'm a SW guy. Hardware is increasingly done in ASIC's / programmable gate arrays, and PLD's which are now written in programming languages like Verilog and VHDL. It's much like software, but massively parallel. With machines coming with more and more cores now, the differences are shrinking rapidly. The real difference is that it costs hundreds of $k to compile the final package in silicon. ;-)

The business of actuarials is to accurately estimate risk. Ask them what the risks of global warming present to increased claims: they are experts on the subject. As to the causes of global warming, there opinions are no more or less informed than anybody else as it doesn't impact their bottom line. Since nobody but straw men are arguing that global warming isn't happening, the "story" here is that insurance companies confirm that global warming is likely to be happening. Also, the world is round. News at 11.
