    So, just from the summary, this doesn't sound very impressive.

    Basically, he had several conditions that interfere with hair growth, but apparently he had fully working follicles and such.

    When they grow a full head of hair on someone who went bald "normally", then that will be impressive.

    (No, I am not one of the bald ones.)

    Though as a reply to my own message, I saw someone say they did a long drive in a Tesla.. 11 hours driving plus 3 hours charging. I don't recall if they were using the highest speed chargers, but that's an awful long time of charging.

    It's the age of Amazon.com, and all anyone cares about is the lowest price.

    I don't think that's always true, and Amazon is actually one of the reasons.

    This is anecdotal, but I know I'm not the only one experiencing this. Amazon doesn't _always_ have the absolute lowest price, but especially if you're getting Prime or free shipping (and obviously comparing the total cost including shipping, or hassle of getting to/from store, from other places). The convenience of getting something from Amazon is sometimes worth a little bit more.. and I honestly mean a _little_ bit. If I can get it online through some other site (e.g. bestbuy) for less, I will. But Amazon vs. some random no name site, even for a bit more? I'll get it at Amazon.

    Comcast has a special line for cablecard setup issues. 1 (877) 405-2298. It worked far better for me trying to get a cablecard set up than the normal #.

    I don't deny that they want you to rent their box.. But not only are the cablecards cheap, but you can get a *slight* discount for customer owned equipment. (I "get" $2.50/month.)

    What do you spend $600 annually on a car that that service covers? i.e. is it simply for convenience or is it actually saving you money? (I don't mean vs. other service plans, which you already say it's cheaper than.)

    Even if it's for convenience, how much extra (vs local garage installation, not doing it yourself) are you paying, if any?

    It is here too, through high school.. But *college* education *shouldn't* be fully paid. Why should *I* pay for *your* education for a higher ed degree to get a better job? Why don't you pay for it yourself, or your parents pay for it (I personally think it's part of parents' duty to pay for their kids college)?

    (BTW, yes, I did go to a UC. So I realize you can claim hypocrisy.. but my taxes are already paying for part of that for others.. Just not "fully tax-paid".)

    Well, if he has fun, yes.

    But more seriously, I have heard news reports (I think on Planet Money podcasts, but I may be wrong about the source) of many small time farmers in various areas of the world using technology -- just finding info about farming techniques and many other seemingly small things -- and greatly increasing their productivity. Having internet access increases their communication, so that can only be a good thing.

    My first reaction though -- what about *affordable* internet access for the 1/3 of us already connected? (ba dum psh!)

    I haven't had any domain names yet, but the current owner of one will transfer it to me. Basically, I need very little in terms of services.. I'm not intending on running a web site there, just some mailboxes (and hopefully a way to send all other email to that domain in another bucket).

    I can't believe I'm kind of defending them... but if it sells cars and hamburgers and everything else, why don't you think it would sell domain registration services?
