Or we could go the route of one of Robert A. Heinlein's novels and have only military veterans hold office.
Hopefully that won't happen because it's going to take a pretty awful catastrophe to bring something like that about and military men have a history of being pretty awful rulers.

I was working tech support for a small dial up ISP and part of my job was telephone tech support for our 2,000 dial up users.
The phone rang an a little old lady asked "Is the internet down?"
Me "No mam the internet is fine. What seems to be the problem?"
Her "Nothing happens when I push the button on the modem."
At this point I figured that she didn't have an external modem so when she said modem she was talking about the tower, system unit... whatever you want to call it.
I said "Well mam is it plugged in?"
Her "Yes I can see where it's plugged into the power strip.
I'm going to cut to the chase here. It turns out that her husband had unplugged the power strip to run the vacuum cleaner. When he finished he plugged the strip back into itself. For some reason it didn't work that way.

I see lots of people saying that you don't need a degree and I have to agree, sometimes.
The problem is that there are a certain number of jobs that will only go to people who have degrees. It often doesn't matter what the degree is in but to even interview for those jobs you'll have to have some sort of degree.
You have to remember that you are dealing with personnel weenies many times and they have a list of qualifications that have to be filled by an applicant.
If college degree is on that list and you don't have one they won't even give you an interview. The guys/gals in IT won't care but it's on the list for Personnel so that's the way it's going to be.
So if you can get a degree of some sort it's one sort of ticket that can't ever be taken away from you.
Truth to tell it doesn't even matter what the degree is in. Mine's in music from back in the 70's and I've still had interviews where that particular ticket was enough to get me in the door.

But let us be honest here, this has absolutely NOTHING to do with artists or creators, and is nothing but unrestrained greed from non producing middlemen. How else can you explain getting up in court and with a straight face saying Ripping your CD to your iPod isn't fair use because you didn't get prior "authorization"(in the form of giving them another check) first.
And finally, since we always have at least a few "get the dirty evil pirates" every time we have this conversation,I am going to say this again: There is NO WAY that anyone can stand up here and with a straight face say that copyrights are anything but broken. If you try,I have one sentence for you: Steamboat Willie is still under copyright. The man has been dead for half a century, and yet his FIRST work, one that was made when most cars had to be started with a freaking handcrank,is still under copyright. I think we can all agree that is severely fucked up. Copyright was supposed to be a contract, nothing more or less. We got a richer public domain in return for a LIMITED monopoly on a work. The fact that Steamboat Willie is still under copyright should prove the contract is broken and not worth the paper copyright laws were written on.
All of which we can thank the late Sonny Bono for sponsoring his wonderful legislation.

Boot into Safe Mode and run it. Then run an antivirus and spyware scanner. I suggest Clamwin portable if you don't want to install one. Then run Spybot Search and Destroy. That might do it.

How about reading the last 5 years of Dilbert and not doing what the pointy haired boss does? AG

The same spies that push porn spam while they "investigate" or that use automated "investigation" that can't tell the difference between a file sharer and a printer? Yeah I kinda doubt it is really costing them much for their "investigation work" there.
