The idea behind HeadCasting or whatever this thing is called (assuming it is real anyway) has been around for quite long actually... For my final year in University I worked on a teleconferencing system which used head tracking on the server system and wireframe rendering on the clients...
The object of this is that you end up transmitting just the movements of the head and the facial expressions of the speaker which of course uses MUCH less bandwidth than video in any case...
On the client you simply rendered a head and used the speaker's image as a texture... Expressions were simulated by transforming the wireframe...
It's not a bad idea if you think of it but the main problems with it were that it was pretty 'heavy' computationaly (because of all the head tracking and feature extraction stuff) and the output looked quite ugly... of course the more vertices the model had the better quality you get which I think is where G550 comes in handy:)
That's a VERY original name don't you think??? Anyway, at least it's appropriate... I think the best thing to put in there would be pictures of key events in the past centuries... you know... things that have made this earth and the monkeys on it look as big a mess as they really are... Imagine 1,000 years from now, someone digs up this disk and reads it... what would he think? I certainly wouldn't be all THAT proud abut my ancestors... That of course happening relies on the fact that we have to survive the next 1,000 years! unfortunately, the human kind has a very low self-preservation rating these days... -- and remember: "Mean what you say... Say what you mean
It was about time RealNetworks realised that Linux is is need if their products 8-) What would really be interesting would be to see an RH distro with the M$ media player...
...at least when I was in school we used pencils and pens... admitting my ignorance I assume no-one is born with a mouse (not the pet anyway) in his hand and surely everyone still (!!!) remembers how to use a pen... As far as I know there are hundreds of pointing devices out there and (correct me please) there seem to be pen pads that work fine with X, so why not use a pen???
Oh, sure... you can't play Quake... oh well... 8-)
