We had a young woman on my son's Midget Hockey team (High school level) and we all loved her, and she had game and we respected her for that., but she was a couple steps slower. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when she decided to go to a girl team, where she excelled.

All wildlife doesn't seem to cope with a total solar eclipse. We saw some really strange things during the last one. Firstly there was dead silence. Its not terribly surprising, but it is definitely a cool phenomenon. One of the things I do during the leadup to an eclipse is check out the shadows from leaves and branches. You get multiple shadows. The light looks like regular daylight, but massively subdued. Regular light levels like that tend to be more orange colored.

I've seen what DuckDuckGo's business model is supposed to be and I'm rather dubious how much it can scale because advertisers and retailers don't generally give a shit about your privacy and in fact your privacy is somewhat at odds with their incentives. Furthermore Google and Bing and the others get all the network effects so advertisers and retailers aren't generally going to flock to a small search engine that isn't going to give them as much data or reach as many potential customers. If DuckDuckGo is really doing what they say they are trying to do I wish them well but it's not going to be an easy battle.
I dunno about you, but I much prefer to use less "popular" things in life. I prefer the National Hockey League to the NFL, and DDG to Google, both on it's privacy model, as well as knowing that huge amounts of money drive corruption. I was in the path of totality last year. During the moments it was dark, bugs (cicadas or something) started making all their usual dusk noises, but just for that couple of minutes.

I always wondered why ancients feared eclipses so much.
Because they didn't happen often in their experience, they had no way to predict them, and they are pretty freaky. People tend to fear what they don't understand which you should know unless you've been living under a rock.
My noggin runs differently. I'm super interested in what I don't understand. Besides, I'm afraid of rocks 8^)

Well, it makes sense when you realize that eclipses and comets were seen as acts of god(s). So if you are fighting and an eclipse happens a reasonable* assumption is that god is displeased with the fighting. Hell, Constantine seeing a sun dog is partially responsible for why Europe became Christian. It's amazing to see how people's interpretations of natural events has shaped world history.

Chillaxe homie. There are probably a lot of people who spend so much tie looking at the eclipse they forget to look around them and see what else is happening.
That changes quickly when people actually do hard work or exercise.
Bottom line the strength difference with males and females of same weight is pretty low. Females have it harder to gain muscles. Absolute strength is often lower, so is speed. But the differences are not that big. E.g. as soon as skills come into account, e.g. in martial arts, underestimating a woman is a big mistake. Same in archery or horsemanship. Sure, if I was sailing on a an cup america race, I would prefer heavy muscled men.

In Soccer, the top women's teams regularly lose to barely post pubescent boys. I've coached Ice Hockey, and the girls are slower, and overall less aggressive. So it doesn't take much analysis to know that a Bantam Male Ice Hockey team would mop the ice with the women's Olympic team. We had a young woman on my son's Midget Hockey team (High school level) and we all loved her, and she had game and we respected her for that., but she was a couple steps slower. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when she decided to go to a girl team, where she excelled.
And it is terribly unfair that folks of your ilk seem to minimize the differences between males in females in sports. It's completely unfair to the women, as they deserve to enjoy competition too. NOw I suppose that in a wolrd where gender differences are merely a social construct, all would be equal. Didn't you know that testosterone is a social construct? As much as some folks would like to believe otherwise, while there are women who are stronger than some men, they are relatively rare. And while steroids can be used to enhance their strength, at the higher strength levels, it is as they would say, a sausagefest.

Yes, there is overlap. Which is why some women are physically capable of doing heavier work than most. And why some men are not. But those edge cases of strength are almost entirely male, and they are needed.
But let us say that this is a feminist's dream come true. That the male of the species can be bred out of the species. So we end up with a female only population.
There would probably be a need for further genetic intervention to produce females that would be employed at the edge careers, the work that requires extreme strength. So the great irony is that this would entail raising the testosterone level of many females, so that they could gain the muscle mass and strength to do certain tasks such as oil rigging work.
The question of course, would this be performed in the womb, or using a sort of female bodybuilder steroid/testosterone injection model. This is not unprecedented, as one feminist/trans model involves convincing prepubescent males that they are really females, then dosing them with puberty inhibitors.
Of course, the great irony is that in producing females with the required muscle mass, they would then be producing individuals who were ersatz men. Just with very small penises as their clitorises grow in response to the chemical intervention. But all of the issues that men have that causes women to hate them would be expressed in these ersatz men.
My wife, her mother, and I drove an hour and a half to be right on the center line and get the full two and a half minutes. When the eclipse came, we quit moving and just stood there staring at the moon. Same with the 4 other people near us.
Maybe I can get some grant money to study this next time?

All wildlife doesn't seem to cope with a total solar eclipse. We saw some really strange things during the last one. Firstly there was dead silence. Birds stopped flying, they actually stopped making sound completely. Also kangaroos were freaked out. They congregated in a common area and huddled together. I've not seen anything quite like it.
Its not terribly surprising, but it is definitely a cool phenomenon. One of the things I do during the leadup to an eclipse is check out the shadows from leaves and branches. You get multiple shadows. The light looks like regular daylight, but massively subdued. Regular light levels like that tend to be more orange colored.

To provide perspective Google does 1.2 trillion searches per day. Good progress but pretty much a rounding error compared to the big boys.

I've seen what DuckDuckGo's business model is supposed to be and I'm rather dubious how much it can scale because advertisers and retailers don't generally give a shit about your privacy and in fact your privacy is somewhat at odds with their incentives. Furthermore Google and Bing and the others get all the network effects so advertisers and retailers aren't generally going to flock to a small search engine that isn't going to give them as much data or reach as many potential customers. If DuckDuckGo is really doing what they say they are trying to do I wish them well but it's not going to be an easy battle.
I dunno about you, but I much prefer to use less "popular" things in life. I prefer the National Hockey League to the NFL, and DDG to Google, both on it's privacy model, as well as knowing that huge amounts of money drive corruption. That is probably heresy in a world where Kim Kardashian is considered the best because of her gazillion Twitter followers.
And if DDG gets too big and falls to evil, I'll dump them in a New York City minute.
