  1. US based requirement, what about other countries? on SpaceX Can't Broadcast Earth Images Because of a Murky License (cnet.com) · · Score: 2, Interesting

Does the US Gov't just want SpaceX to move out of country and then broadcast?

  2. Just because the president avoided service... on Donald Trump Says US Military Will Not Allow Transgender People To Serve (theguardian.com) · · Score: 0

Doesn't mean that other citizens of the US appreciate being blocked from supporting their country.

The accusations that transgender will result in high medical costs is unfounded. If there are concerns with any transition effects then work around by allowing the time served to be before or after the transition. But be respectful of the needs of our patriotic soldiers, they are serving the citizens proudly.

  3. I quit Directv after only 7 months - their 'standard professional install' did not document their behavior of leaving the two dishes (standard and international) on bricks on the ground for 7 months. They moved during winter and refused to come out to complete the install. Upon cancelling they attempted to charge me full termination rate until I forced them to consider the install as being part of the contract - standard professional install != on bricks on ground. I read through the contractors instructions for install and that was not a option. But even with that they still charged me $60 for the termination - less than half the remaining amount - I went with this instead of wasting time with arbitration. Funny - they can charge me for an incomplete install but supposedly I have to be held to a contract that was not fulfilled by their end!

  4. First hand experience at Ebay $1 attempt on Automated Scripts Overrun eBay Holiday Contest · · Score: -1, Redundant

So, I tried hard a few days ago to win the Juicy Coutur bag, and found that for a short while the auction was going at 16 and 46 minutes after the hour - if you follow the "Search Now" link from their $1 banner showing the products of the day - you can then set your advanced search for "between $1 and $1" and also check the "Free Shipping" then you order the products by "Just Listed"

I was able to see the Juicy Coutur bag listed 3 times in a row at the 15/16 and 45/46 minute after the hour mark - however, even with a fast SHIFT+REFRESH of the browser - those items were gone the instant they were posted and the counter was "1 view" - that should have beenb my view! Yet the product was already gone.

There was simply no chance to get the items - I attempted for others but could not find the pattern as they were removed too quickly and auctioned off at wierd times - such as the digital photo display, started midnight, according to the # left it didn't auction until early morning and then suddenly at 10 AM there was only about a dozen left, then at 2pm there were 30+ left.

It would have made the search more fair to change up the price, offer 'rebate' to change the random price to the $1, and modify the submitted time stamp to not just make it a brand new auction, but rather one that you seriously had to search for and find - not just grab the newly posted one dollar free shipping item as soon as it showed up :(

We are staying online, after a complete Y2K checkout we are very confident of our plant and stability. Washington Nuclear Plant 2 (WNP2) has achieved some very good goals and they plan to tackle any possible problems that may occur. At this time a full compliment of staff is expected on December 31st (Luckily I'm not critical enough to have to be out there!) The NRC has been very pleased with our efforts in the plants efficiency and stability. I'm not an official spokesman for the plant, but I can refer you to our media people if you would like. http://www.wnp2.com I have not heard of such measures of the NRC but I do believe that in the end they are out to serve the public and the Nuclear Facilities best interests.

  6. Y2K & Washington States only Active Nuclear Plant on Y2K: Fuel the Panic, the NBC Movie · · Score: 1

I'm a contractor at Washington States only functioning Nuclear Power Plant. Apparently the others at the plant view the movie as a very bad publicity stunt. Our Y2K measures and expense reaches a very nice sum of 6.5 Million dollars and the critical aspects of the plant don't depend on a clock or date.
