Don't forget that the celeron IIs are FCPGA (the chip is flipped, so equivalent pins are in different locations on the array), not PPGA, so hopefully ABIT or someone will come out with a FCPGA to PPGA "slocket".
Friendtech converter cards, convert from FCPGA to PPGA, has yet to be shipped, but should be available within the week.
This card allows you to put Coppermine processors on normal Socket 370 boards, which normally don't support FCPGA processors. For more info on overclocking and these cards (in the future), I suggest HardOCP and Overclockers.
This has drastic ramifications on the NASDAQ market, but I believe it shouldn't, because MSFT (and AOL and CISC and whatever else rules the tech stock market) should not set the standard for the rest of the market. Sure, the NASDAQ point earning is calculated upon the most successful and valuable companies in that particular market, but I do not believe it should make any investor panic and throw every damn tech stock out the window on the basis that its MSFT and AOL are tumbling. Its just mob mentality and its ludicrous.
-- Its score 1 because I used IE5 and Win98 to post this.
What about parallels between the software industry and the music industry? Case in point: people who use MP3s but refuse to use warez/cracks or other illegal pirated software? Obviously, in this case of software, it is not try before you buy, that's what demos are for. Some people view it as a smaller crime when it really is not. There are many arguements to support when they are both illegal, like Photoshop is $600, NT Server is overvalued etc. (GIMP and Linux or BSD are fine solutions, but that is not the point, as the open source community/market isn't exactly dominating the paid software industry.)
I leave the settings on 2 for most of the good posts, or ones that make any relevance. But how does one score the 2+ points?
Fuck, I probably need to post this anonymously, too, since the decay of Slashdot (and Western-fucking-Civilization) is "off topic", and will be marked down just like the dozens of legitimate "put software release 2.3.48ac4 in it's own section" complaints in other threads. Of course, we're stuck with clueless moderators, since the 33% of people who visit slashdot most often make themselves ineligible to become moderators; that way we get "the average reader". Yay, average people.
And what is wrong with so-called "average people"? It is not like we are not allowed to have our own opinion on the subject as well. If Slashdot was only exclusive to the elite (or 31337) of the sysadmins, it probably would not have as large base of loyal readers as it does now (yes including people who use Windows, we count , too!).
From the standpoint of how they are promoting it to be as easy as a grandmother to use, riddle me this!: How come people that have been using a computer for more than 2 months still not know how to use Windows? Thats right, you would have to make the GUI even easier to use (and extremely automated), to make it accessable to your mom, possibly beyond MacOS. Is that possible? Yes. But on the other side, there are people who need support with AOL, one of the most degeneratingly easy programs to use in the world, but with its ease of use, most functionality is lost. Will this also happen with this Eazel GUI?
If anything is contributing to the "death" of usenet, it is forums, such as this one, as well as them advent of themed chat-rooms, where people get thier answers as fast as they have written them. But, y'know, why would my mail/news people over at (ISP withheld) keep adding newsgroups that were recently setup, or ones that I requested for?
One more good thing about usenet (and at the same time, the worst thing) is that you can say what you want and not be filtered for the most part (depends on who operates the news server, etc.). So I can put my comments about the AOL lawsuit on alt.aol-sucks, and have them heard by other people, as opposed to posting my thoughts at ZDNet, and getting filtered either because of my language or lack of grammar or objectionable ideas (hell, it can happen here, watch as I get a 1 or 0 and no karma points.).
Finally, on the subject of binaries, most users of a newsgroup frown upon posting them unless the title of the newsgroup explicitly says "binaries", and those who do not follow the rules often get killfiled or reported to their ISP (at the worst). Well, back to alt.games.starcraft. -- one thing that makes me down is when people put bandanas on their dogs
Remember that kid who distributed warez and mp3s through his college and got busted big time? Well, just because the students have the bandwidth doesn't mean they'll use it correctly (at my gracefully endowed high school, we have a ton, and it doesn't get used for the means of education (we have a streaming music server for christs sake!) It spoils the student, although I would kill to have this kind of hookup at my home. Speaking of internet connections, does anyone have a reasonable idea why DSL service hasn't expanded and is there any way to light a torch under the ISP/Phone Company's ass (Bell Atlantic) to get them to move quicker?
Hells yeah. A lot of industry, but they can use database programmers or corportae software programmers. My high school has UNIX sysadmins, Mac people, and WinNT admins, so I guess you could get a job there or working for the county. (Bergen County, to be precise. Closest to NY, but very nice, one of the richest coutnies in the country more info)
1. Confetti: Its not edible, and makes the apocalypse a messier affair. And when the water malitia comes around, do you want to look like a dork with aper in your hair?
2. Condoms: These will PREVENT the propagation of the human race.
3. A Stereo Blasting Party Music: Like you want to let the mutants from nuclear winter know where you are, as well as the other maniacs running aorund our post-apocalyptic world.
4. Mistletoe: Its a poisonous plant! RUN! RUN! People who carry it around asking for "kisses" really want to murder you for your battery/water supply.
By the way, I have pl,ans for next year and firmly believe nothing major is going to happen.
What are your opinions on "script kiddies" and your propogation of these people? Don't you believe that people who would want to be hackers should learn through experience, much like yourselves?
It'll never happen with McDougle's (Definition of a McDougle) sitting around pressing F5 on Slashdot all the time. In order to get a score, don't people/machines need to read this? Can't they scan for them (yes I know you can pose a limit if you want.. mine's at 0)
The fact is that message is very redundant, and not really worth the clicking of any knowledgeable computer user. Everyone knows warez is illegal and bad, so whats the point of telling people the same fact over na dover (except for, of course, warez d00dz) Parody of a warez person: Something Awful
What do you think about imposed censorship, such as rated R movies? In this day and age, parents should be able to control their 7 year old enough not to take them to a rated R movie correct? So why impose the restriction? And what about occasional errors in censorware, such as not being able to view medical drawings and pictures online because, perhaps, there might be a stray penis/vagina/anus in there? Or perhaps places that have SEX, BLOW, CUM, or other sexual references inside of the, such as Middlesex County?
Although internet security is a high priority on everyone's list, but this deal does not seem to extend that, as it says in the article is just a purchase transaction, not like some M$ assimilation practices.
Most people do not like using AOLIM or ICQ, buit to keep in touch with several people I know in real life and over the internet, this is one of the few ways to do it in real time, aside from using my other phone line or email. But a standard seems to be a long time away, as most companies (AOL) value are based on thier messaging/chat capabilities (oh come on, when was the last time someone used AOL for everything aside from IMs and chat.)
Just because Quake X(I'm being the devil's advocate here) is a murder simulator, and now because of it I should be able to take out several people with a couple of well placed sniper shots (e.g. Railgun type shots) doesn't mean that I would want too.
I would like to play this guy at a "death simulator" sometime to see how many times I can "murder" him.
And one final thought, StarCraft will make you launch nuclear missles, Mario will make you eat "magic mushrooms", and Tetris will make you drop heavy things on people.
I read chick lickers as the title of this news story. Is there hidden lesbian porn on /.? The world may never know.

Where;d you get your Celerons, did you test them yourself or get them pretested? I'm talk about the 366s.
