    part of the problem is that we expect the votes to be tallied immediately. better that it takes longer than the supreme court has to step in again.

    player pianos existed more or less simultaneously with radio, and slightly before the phonograph. your sentiments are nice but founded on bad info. also, the burden is on you to come up with evidence that such a "sea change" can or will happen. i'd love for you to be right, i really would. but my band isn't signed, and as of 2007, we'd be better off if we were, if only slightly.

    Wikipedia has been shown to contain *fewer* errors than most of the competing sources [citation needed]

    and if you've ever read wikipedia articles, you know they are better edited than most books and are generally very readable. [citation needed]

    Sounds somewhat like the Prisoner's Dilemma. Of course, game theory covers other types of situations, of which PD is just one. But it's a pretty relevant one. I stand to gain by screwing everyone else, but only if they don't do the same to me. The difference here, though, is that the consumers become collateral damage.
