  1. Shouldn't the patch installer stop this? on Failed Win XP Upgrade Wipes Out UK Government Agency · · Score: 1

Of course EDS might just have copied out the relevant DLL's, registry settings and whatnot, but if the rollout happened through a preconfigured installer, shouldn't the patch installer detect that it was erroneusly being installed on the wrong OS?

So inside you're battery's fuel cell, you'd first have to mix it with a certain percentage of oxygen, while it's still sealed, and then somehow introduce a spark, inside the case, aslo while it's still sealed. Good luck.

Now, that is an innovative idea for, in the future, bringing an explosive device aboard an airplane. The question is wether the size of the explosion a micro fuel cell can produce would be "spectacular" enough to be useful, of course.

  7. Danish Child Pornigraphy Laws on 'Virtual' Child Porn Act Ruled Unconstitutional · · Score: 1

As a point of interest, the centerpiece of the Danish child pornography laws is: has anybody been violated?

Virtual child pornography does not violate anybody, it "merely" offends.

Of course, there is then the whole debate over whether it is actually healthy for a person predispositioned to commit child abuses to be exposed to virtual child pornography.

    3) Win32 Flashable BIOS .. This worries me A LOT!!. With the past realiability of Microsoft products the last thing I want them doing is playing with the BIOS. I can imagine now all the queue's in PCWORLD at the service desk because they tried installing Windows X and now their computer won't even switch on..

There is that, and then there are the hordes of script-kiddies that will drool at the thought of spreading virii and worms that exploit this particular feature, rendering hapless users' XP boxes unusable.

I would never use an email client where every kind of information that I can get from it is presented all at the same time. Am I supposed to read email, do some instant messaging, manage my tasks and calender and schedule meetings all at the same time?

Humans work best when single-tasking; having an ICQ client, email message pane, email message folders all lumped together is simply too much noise for me to be able to consentrate on a task; be it writing or reading an email, instant messageing or scheduling a meeting.

Although I must admit that I like the mouseover contact information feature.

As you point out, Outlook Views work on a per folder basis only, which render them absolutely useless in my book. Such a feature should be work across folders.

What about thread sorting? I would consider this to be a need to have feature of any email client. Without threads I find it very difficult to maintain a mental map of how an on-going discussion is progressing; this applies especially to mailing lists where numerous sub-threads are the norm.
