    InnoDB was the new default.
    Oracle bought out the people that made it.
    MySQL need new default storage so they are not tied to Oracle's generosity.
    This is the one they have chosen.

    You might want to look into the history of root before deciding that only on Windows was multi-user added on later.

    Root is a design fault, it is not even necessary.

    5000 terminals with hard disks ensures plenty of hardware failure.

    Diskless terminals (not thin clients) *should* have been the future.

    Sadly the Lunix crowd is stuck with NFS, never mind.

    You couldn't be more wrong. MSword is an ActiveX control that Microsoft Word presents a GUI for.

    You can script it in VBA or C++ or Python or whatever has bindings for COM in Windows.

    Antiword is the best tool I have found for exporting Word docs into plain text.
