    It's a joke about how (insert number here) should be fast enough.

    With no incentive for a company to offer better service to the customers you end up in stagnation. And while it might be enough today for most users it will halt the evolution for higher internet speed.

    I already have a dual boot, but some applications takes too much time to be setup in Linux.

    I guess I'll have to try it again, it's just that with so many server application I installed on this system it's a PITA to make a move on another OS.

    Sure:
    Low speed 33.6k with packet lost > 50%.
    Hight speed: 56k with the same shit of packet lost.

    Price:100 - 300E.

    Since you don't have a choice what are you going to do?

    This smells like communism in the worst form.

    P.S: I don't mind communism, just the 80% of stupid monopolistic ideas.

    I'm a happy owner of an Asus EEEPC 1000H. The CPU or Ram are not the problem, the disk is.

    As soon as the SSD disks come to a reasonable price / size I'm going to do upgrade my little one.

    P.S: I'm currently using the netbook as a server(XP, since I need some app running only on this OS), but my network card is suffering and sometimes I need to reboot the system. Any idea?

    Of course, today the virus spread made impossible to keep that system in a safe way.

    I still remember the time when I was an admin in a small student PC lab. Every Win95 had his own public IP and no firewall. Today you would be called mad to have a setup like that, but back then it was the norm.

    Erm... You do realise that games don't scale well past two GPUs, don't you?

    Depends on the drivers, the 4850x2 are so exotic there are virtual no benchmarks in CF mode for modern games. But you can get a used one for 120E now, hopefully will be well under 100E once the 6xxx series comes out. The power consumption and case space might be a problem tho.

    I have a HD 4850x2 and I don't get enough FPS.

    But since the prices are dropping maybe I can buy myself another 4850x2 and CF them together.

    GPU's are lagging behind games right now, not like the Intel CPU, when you o/c them there is no game yet to need all that power.

    Not everyone just gets their kicks out of drooling after graphics cards. Like e.g. I've got HD 4800 and still all the games I play run perfectly well at about 60 fps at max. details. There simply is no benefit in buying yet another card.

    But alas, each to their own.

    No, we don't. Unless you live in a village, your "one minute" stop is influencing hundreds of cars, creating a collective loss much greater than "one minute" that you're imposing on the society for egotistic reasons.

    The one and only effect I'd enjoy of camera traffic control (being completely against it) is that it would reduce the dozens of "one minute quick stops just to drop something" that make me lose hours per year.

    Stopping in the bus zone is completely legal (Slovenia) if you don't obstruct the actual bus. As for other cars, they are in no way disturbed, since the bus stop is an actual extra space on the road.

    Hey hey, slow down Johnny boy.
    This is not how democracy works. The big corporations, using corrupted politicians, create new laws that will never ever benefit the working class. Now in return the working class has to pay through taxes or higher internet fees all the new expenses that comes with this new type of regulation.

    And while the ISP is working his ass of to respect the new laws, a couple more legislation comes in order to track more user activities online, after all they are already monitoring what we are doing and if we didn't give a fuck the first time, why should we care later?
