  1. check it out on Feature:GPL vs BSD · · Score: 2

There's a pretty good article discussing some of the short-comings of GPL in this month's daemonnews from the view of *BSDers.

It seems to me like the main difference between the two licenses is that one gives you enough freedom to screw yourself over, while one tries to protect you from that, even if it seems like it is infringing a bit on the freedom you'd want as a developer. It seems like that's the source of a lot of anti-GPL angst.

  2. Re:Clonable? on Why size mattered for Einstein · · Score: 1

In that Ottawa Citizen article or whatever that someone posted above, it's stated that it's impossible to clone Einstein because his brain was inadvertently injected with warm formaldehyde rather than cold, and alters the DNA, or so they say. That's pretty wild.

  3. hmm... on Survey shows NT admins looking at Linux · · Score: 2

Was the Microsoft Exchange forum be open only to NT users, or was it open to Unix users also?

It just seems like 3% isn't realistic as far as percentage of businesses using Unix, but that'd make sense if it were an NT only survey. I know Unix isn't nearly that scarce in the US business community.

If it were an NT only survey, though, why do they brag about NT Server's prevalence? They say that it "remains the dominent departmental OS server as one would expect." This is a strange survey.

  5. fear the portals on Linux.com to go Live Tonight · · Score: 3

I remember when the bidding for this domain closed and the guy said that Microsoft had placed a bid in there. It says a lot about the guy who owned the domain that he didn't sell it to them, because they surely had piles more money than anyone else who bid. I've always really liked the integrity in the open source community, and I think that action there embodied quite a bit of it.

Despite all that, I'm still a little afraid of seeing this mega-portal site, though. Portals are always filled with advertisements and classified ads and all kinds of filler that bug the hell out of me, and I just don't want to see the site brought down to the lowest common denomitator like that.

Do they really need to advertise this movie? It's not like people are going to be kicking themselves next year for not seeing the movie just because they heard nothing at all about about it.

I stick firm to my prediction that this movie will earn hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

He needs to lighten up, and I think some prostitutes would help him out a lot there.
